asylum exclusive..
I wrote this two days ago but forgot to post it. It is a short fanfiction.
Rated G because everybody is super happy. Except Crawford who is never happy.
Title: None. Just.. none. Author: Me. Jei. Rating: G. Warnings: None. Summary: Farfarello gets a gift from his "friends.." Author's Notes: They're a bunch of jerks, really.
They never invested in a tree. No lights were strung upon the walls. No stockings hung. Crawford wouldn't let them. With their various goings-on, Jei could understand. He was not one to get into a particularly festive spirit anyway, so nothing was lost.
It was an interesting time of year, however. Nagi, being still a child in his own right, always took time to celebrate in some way. Whether it be humming the familiar tunes or caught reading some old holiday tale, Nagi somehow kept his faith alive, if only for a few days out of the year.
This year was different somehow. Jei had sauntered into the main room to find Nagi and Schuldig smiling brightly, adorned with reindeer antlers and fuzzy red noses. Crawford sat sullenly in the corner, a santa hat perched atop his head, though his face lacked the enthusiasm of his comrades.
`` Farfarello! Good morning! ``
Jei took a step back, his body tensing by habit alone, as Nagi rushed to his side, his hands hidden behind his back.
`` I know you don't celebrate anymore.. but I wanted to do something for you. Think of it as.. a token of our appreciation. ``
Nagi held out his arms and presented a brightly coloured package done up in red and green string, the tails curled and tied into a neat little bow. The tag hanging from the top read simply To Farfarello. My friend.
`` Schuldig helped pick it out.. ``
Jei took the package hesitantly and instantly his face softened. It was easy to tell what it was: a book. In the vast time he spent alone, reading had become a favourite passtime, and he was truely amazed that his teammates had noticed. Moreso, he found he was touched by the word "friend," having never thought of himself a friend to anyone.
Too surprised to even speak, he tore into the paper, eager to see what else his "friends" knew about him. Perhaps it was a guide to other countries? He had traveled quite a bit before joining Schwarz. Or maybe a dictionary for some foreign language. He was always exceptional at memorization, and was already fluent in three languages.
`` Merry Christmas, Farfarello, ``
Schuldig spoke through his chuckling as Jei's face fell into a heavy frown upon seeing his gift. It was a book as he had thought, the title a glittery gold against the backdrop of a beautiful sky.

Fun fact: I actually owned that book at some point in time.
