Second base It was raining, so they had shelved their plans for a walk. Raine and Dallas had been hanging out a lot, heading into the nearest towns to browse through second hand record shops, or heading into the woods for walks. Whilst they enjoyed these activities, and each other's company, in and of themselves, it also definitely added to their appeal that it got them away from everyone else, and afforded them the privacy to do things other than talk... Now, kept inside by the weather, they were lying on the double bed easily accommodated by Dallas' small caravan, which also boasted a kitchen, living room and bathroom. One of the records Raine had bought on a recent trip to a recent town played in the background. She lay back, enjoying the pleasant crush of his body on hers, the hot feeling of his tongue in her mouth. His hands snaked up under her skirt, finding her underwear. Raine tensed up.
"Everything ok?" he asked, feeling the change in her body language.
"Mm," Raine managed thoroughly unconvincingly.
"But..?" he prompted.
"It's just that I... haven't... y'know...with anyone."
This wasn't entirely a surprise, he'd kind of guessed that -more because Raine was quiet and seemed kind of naive than any other factor. He was pretty sure that by the time he was her age he had, and that if someone had tried to lock him away in a boring boarding school, it would have made him do it sooner rather than later. He wasn't sure what the population of Sonora did with all their free time if it wasn't getting their rocks off. Maybe they were all too uptight. But, in spite of guessing that it might come up, he still wasn't sure he knew entirely how to deal with the subject. He knew that the main thing was that he didn't make her feel pressured. He also wasn't sure he trusted himself not to say something entirely stupid or douchebaggy right now, and that his powers of concentration were not going to be improved by their current position. With a conscious effort, he removed his hand from Raine's thigh and rolled away from her - not far enough to be distant, but just... well, not to be on top of her. He occupied himself with stroking her hair instead.
"Ok," he said, because he'd learnt that the best way to get Raine to talk tended to be to just give her time and silence into which she could do so, and also because he still didn't think his brain and his mouth were fully connected, and it was probably better to say nothing than to say the wrong thing.
"You and me.. It's just a summer thing, isn't it?" she asked. She knew the answer really but she needed to hear it.
"Probably. I mean, we'll be going separate ways come September. Does that bother you?"
"No. I don't think so. I just...wanted to know." Raine's family was fairly open when it came to sex and sexuality. She had certainly not grown up with any expectation that she should save her honour, or that there was anything wrong in sleeping with someone you knew you weren't going to stay with. Her mother, when giving her The Talk, had given her three guidelines. Inorder, based on how difficult they were to sort out, practically and/or emotionally, and starting with the worst, they were 1) don't get pregnant 2) don't get your heart broken 3) don't catch anything
Raine thought that knowing where she stood with Dallas was enough of a safeguard against number two. It wasn't like there were any promises to be broken if they both knew what they were getting into.
"Also.. Because I haven't. I don't know... I mean. I... I might not be any good."
"Raine -" Dallas cut himself off, deciding just in time that I've been fantasising about what I could do with you since I first saw you do the splits, was probably not the right thing to say in terms of the whole 'no pressure' angle that he knew he should be going for. "It's not like it's a Transfiguration theory test. And I can walk you through it. I have a feeling you'd be very good at it though..." It was tempting to lean in, to kiss her neck, try to make her melt... But he thought she probably had quite a bit to think about, even just from those few sentences. "But maybe not today," he decided. The look of relief, the way she relaxed back into his arms, seeming happy again to be there told him that he'd made the right call.
She leant in, kissing him, wrapping her arms around his neck and a leg over his hip. He moaned slightly as she pressed against him, his hand resuming its path up her thigh.
"Raine... I know you don't want to go all the way. But... How about further?" he asked.
Raine gave it a moment's thought, although the way he was currently running his hand along her body, and the way that it made her shiver, helped her to decide.
