I tried to be generous...after all, it's her characters and her stories, and we're just borrowing them. Still, I never liked it when an author said things like that about their characters at all. Sure, they're allowed to have ones they dislike...but some fans really love and care about them, and it just seems like she doesn't respect that. She's always bashing Draco as well, which bothers me (for my Draco-loving friends).
The only other character I cried about like this was Armand in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, when she killed him. But even she realised she made a horrible mistake and resurrected him, and did some retconning! I wish JKR would, if not do that, at least stop bashing characters and giving them unrealistic futures. I mean, since when did Harry and Ginny have a 'deep connection' as soulmates? WTF?!
Sorry to go on about it, I'm just at my wits end with this stuff. HP is the only fandom I've ever been in that takes canon so seriously. Most fandoms totally embrace AU, you know?
