Alex frowned, pushing up his glasses with one finger. The finger that wasn't from the dead-rat hand, since he hadn't yet opened the hand sanitizer. It wasn't the lack of care at the sight of the dinosaurs that concerned him, though a tiny bit of his mind stung. Dinosaurs were cool and it seemed self-evident that people should be properly impressed by them.
But no, it was... something that reminded him of the near-human cryptids that he'd encountered. Not that he had as much experience with them as some of his family, but he'd been raised to recognize tells. And... okay, so he couldn't recognize the subtle look of a wig that hid a Gorgon or the smell of gingerbread that signaled a Madhura, but there was something, something that was signaling not all the way human to him.
"Sorry, I haven't seen it." He waved at the herd. "I was kind of distracted. You know how it goes." He smiled sheepishly. "Are you sure that you're okay?"
