"We weren't," Eric explained, shaking his head at her, "Not until we both felt the impact of your loss from our lives. It was that grief we shared that brought us together, and now that we are friends I couldn't imagine being without him." Lee had done each of them a world of good, she had changed both of their lives for the better and Eric had always been grateful to her for that.
Then the question came. Lee was nothing if not resourceful, any task set upon her she would excel at. Eric knew she would give her utmost at anything laid at her feet, she had proven bar time and again.
But there was something that needed doing and perhaps it was up to Lee to help, "Maybe you could assist some of the others here how to defend themselves from danger. There are some here that could use the lessons, and who better than a woman sent to protect the very essence of life?" Ariel was one that stood out to him, and there were probably others that might benefit from her teachings. And it would give her something to be proud of, helping others survive.
