The missing piece in her life slotted into place when Eric curled his arm in with hers. She looked over at him and beamed, before leaning her head against the side of his arm. It was good to have him back. She'd missed him more than she'd said, and was so glad that he wasn't shying away from her now.
"I like it here," she said. "It's a lot better than die Festung, and the only thing that was wrong was that I hadn't found our wall yet. This is it, though, isn't it?" She lifted her head long enough to look at him for confirmation. Then she looked down at their dangling feet. The drop into the water was far. On the other side of the wall, there was a troubling forest that seemed to move... and even stare back at her... She didn't like that side of the wall, but this side offered a beautiful view of the City. It was hard to get here; that was true enough. And there could have been many other walls in the City for them to choose. But this was the one that got her noticed.
She wanted to ask about why he looked so different here than he had in die Festung. It felt.... personal. She didn't know if she was allowed.
