The news that Effie was dead didn't particularly surprise Tony, though he did wonder which Hulk had taken her out. Her ex, or the more recent City addition? Tony made a note in the back of him mind to investigate, in case Bruce knew or was upset about it.
"She spent enough time trying to drive him crazy, seems like she finally got what she wanted," he said, flat ignoring the card. He'd have Jarvis look into it, he didn't need to follow the leads the other spoke of. And he certainly didn't accept being handed things by men like this.
At the threat to Annie Tony's eyes narrowed again, the glove powering almost unconsciously. But there were a lot of civilians around on the street, many of whom had noticed the confrontation. And of course instead of retreating to safety, they were just gawking.
It wasn't the place for an all out fight, and Tony's priority was still getting Annie away, so he shifted slightly and shoved Edward back, down the window, hand still leveled with the other's face.
"Life's a hoot. But your stage time's over for the day, you'd better run along," he responded. He was starting to cool down from his initial fury, now that Annie was safe, but his guard and adrenaline level wouldn't be falling until Edward was out of his sight.
