Should have been there sooner, yes. At least in Tony's mind. Physics didn't matter when people you loved were in danger.
There was a low roar in the distance, but it was soon deafening and present as Tony slammed into the pavement in his most recent suit, hitting into a kneeling position. As he stood all the armor apart from his right gauntlet broke away from his frame automatically, probably as much because it valued Annie as the instructions Tony had uploaded via Jarvis on route. Levitating for a moment magnetically, the armor immediately snapped onto Annie's slender frame, adapting and shifting as it engulfed her protectively, minus the right gauntlet.
Tony's still armored right hand started to glow with charge as he seized Eddie by the front of his shirt and spun, slamming him into the glass window of the shop. The look on the normally bored or mocking face was one of pure hatred as he lifted the hand threateningly. The inventor kept his whole body firmly between the villain and his girlfriend.
"Get away from her," he growled uncharacteristically. He didn't know what was going on specifically, but he didn't have to make a very big leap based on what he saw. And he'd never trusted Nigma. or his daughter. The whole family had been messing with his friends and loved ones for far too long without receiving retaliation, but that was just one more irrelevant regret to consider after Tony had protected Annie.
"Jarvis, get Annie out the moment this jackass makes a move." He spoke aloud what Jarvis already knew to do to illustrate it to the suit as well. Tony had long ago considered that given it's reported opinion of him, the suit was more loyal to Annie than it was to himself. But in his mind that just meant that she had three beings looking out for her instead of just him and Jarvis. Granted if she willed it, she could easily dominate any or all of the three of them, but it didn't change the fact that they were looking out for her on thier own.
