John had been skittish, at first, but with a sibling like Pam he'd gotten over his physical hangups fairly quickly, and not only with her. And, it was Eric. John didn't know if it was the blood bond, or that the only life he could vividly remember was in New Troy, with a new family that cared for him. It was probably both. But the devotion he'd carried for God and his fellow man in his first life had been transfered to the taller blonde beside him. As Eric touched him he leaned ever so slightly into the hand, and turned just enough so his lips grazed the other's palm.
At Eric's words, his old grin blossomed irrepressibly across his face. It was perhaps for the first time in the other's presense, given how they met and John's anxiety thereafter about disappointing him or acclimating to his new life and environment. The smile lit his eyes and split his face in two, as he'd never really mastered honing himself to a closed lip grin.
When Eric moved away, the smile remained, and John put a hand to his stomach as he looked up at the building. The name was a bit odd for him to digest, given his background, but he found himself equally amused by the irony. "Well, I'm ready to eat," he said, ready to follow his maker's lead.
