Dinah had just picked up take-out and was heading home with Chinese food in hand. She smiled a little as she saw the number pop up on caller ID.
"If you're calling to ask for pizza, you're too late. I already picked up Chinese," she answered the phone.
It wasn't so unusual for Dean to call her that she thought something was wrong. Not just yet. There was a part of her that had hoped things would stay quiet for a bit. She'd had her brush with potential death earlier and she was trying to keep a low profile until she could get her upgraded gear. It was the best way that she knew of to make it up to Dean and show him that she planned to start exercising a little more caution. Which, if anyone had told her that they'd get to a point where he was the one asking her to be cautious back when she'd first met him, she would have thought they were nuts. Then again, there were a lot of things about Dean that had surprised her once she'd had the chance to get to know him.
She waited to give him the chance to tell her why he was calling if not to ask her to pick up pizza or burgers. She loved the man, but that didn't mean that she wanted to live on a daily diet of pizza, burgers, and pie alone.
