The last few days had left the scientist in a rather dizzying tailspin. It was as if he hadnt done enough good in the world to counterbalance the negative and then karma had hit him full force. Like a freight train. He had been helpless to stop it, no matter how much strength he had been given by Hulk....Bruce ultimately was powerless.
Effie was gone.
He had been avoiding all of the usual spots, too, knowing that running into her would be bad for both of them. Scraps of wrapping paper from his birthday the day before still littered the floor of his lab. The gifts she sent him had only spurned more heartache. Especially the necklace. That had been the worst of them.
Bruce had decided a bath was necessary and he had escaped the confines of a lab that was once a Haven, and fled to one of the many guest suites. He showered and dressed in fresh clothes from his room, before heading back to his new prison. The lab.
He walked through the door from the stairs and noticed a young woman that wasn't his wife sitting at his computer. Confused, the scientist approached the desk and console slowly, "Excuse me, can I help you?" He couldn't explain this logically, it wasn't adding up.
And he didn't know he knew her already. Last time he saw her she had still been in her ship.
