Jo's eyebrows rose and she couldn't help but return Wash's smile. It was only in that moment that she realized just how relieved she was at the prospect of him and Maxine staying for awhile longer. She shifted her gaze to the couch and nodded.
"I wouldn't dream of separating you and this couch."
She laughed softly and met Wash's eyes again.
"I think the couch is growing fond of you too. Besides, it might be easier for Maxine to live in one place for awhile instead of this joint custody thing."
Which made them sound like ex-spouses, but there was no better way to describe it. It was an odd sort of arrangement that they'd all found themselves in, wasn't it?
She took a seat on the armchair opposite the couch.
"Speaking of Maxine, we should probably talk about those powers of hers."
She was concerned and she'd held off on telling Wash about Sam being turned into a dog until he seemed like he was doing better, but she knew that it was something that they needed to discuss eventually.
