Jo was getting used to the way Wash bounced around from topic to topic, particularly on his meds. She smiled at him once he was done with the ramble.
"It's worth a lot. Thanks, Wash. And for what it's worth, I think happy endings are probably overrated. I mean, do they ever show you what happens after they get together? Who knows what waits on the other side of that, right?"
Then again, she realized that Wash knew. He'd already had his 'happy ending' with Zoe. For a little while, at least.
Jo didn't want either of them to go too far down the road of thinking about what they'd lost or what they really wanted for Christmas, so she mentally cast about for a distraction.
"You want ice cream? This feels like a rocky road sort of conversation, I think."
Rocky road was, after all, the unofficial ice cream of heartbreak, wasn't it? The name was pretty apt and the flavor itself was nothing short of divine in Jo's mind.
