"I did." Her expression softened. "I'm not going to tell you how to feel about it, especially because I'm not sure myself. I think, though, that I'm going to go with proud. Even if she doesn't remember doing it, those women's families deserve some sort of closure."
She was a little nervous at how this comment would be received, but she hoped that it would appeal to the part of Bruce that was a very good man. She believed that he was, even if she sometimes questioned how he could be comfortable with some of the choices that Enigma made.
"I can understand if that doesn't make it any easier when your wife is facing a potential lifetime in prison. I'm sorry, Bruce."
She meant that, too. No matter how else she felt about this, she was sure that he was hurting over losing Effie in this way and she was sorry for it.
