Maxine had no idea what Jo or Sam did for a living. Being five she didn't have a fleshed out concept of adulthood, let alone a steady job versus the lifestyle of a hunter. It was probably why, despite Leto's warnings, that Maxine wasn't terribly concerned about upsetting the man she'd just transformed.
She had hard lessons lined up in her future.
"You were really good at being a dog, though." It was a half compliment, half mournful remark about the loss of a pet she supposed she was never actually going to be allowed to keep.
Maxine looked between both adults, waiting to see if there were anything else. Her own mom and dad would have more than likely been furious, if calling up all the dead and buried neighborhood pets from The Red were any indication. To the Bakers, Maxine wasn't the girl with the terrifying powers, she was just their daughter.
