As they moved, Hannibal was constructing another room on his Mind Palace to store all the information that Erik was giving him. This one was more a chamber than an ordinary room, each step building another section, each bit of information represented in exact detail as he was seeing it, or in decoration that would trigger the memory. The music Erik spoke of would ring in the hallway just as he was hearing it now, the verbal instructions would be built into the stone.
Hannibal marveled at the amount of work that had gone into the secrets here. He'd already been impressed with the opera house manager prior to this, given his abilities with music. This day was continually adding layers of respect.
The burden of the corpse was largely forgotten outside of the physical as he was introduced to a part of Erik's mind that intrigued him more than perhaps anybody else would have been comfortable with. Hannibal was excited to see more of these traps, the switches, the maze that had been created in the very foundations of the building.
"Did you know to what purposes this building would go when you put your hand in the construction? Or were you opting to assure you'd be ready for whatever situation might spring up?"
