Bruce looked at Maxine with a small smile at her observation. Kids were some of the brightest people. They caught on quickly, followed examples and absorbed information like small sponges. He was glad she was being taken care of by Wash. There was probably not anyone better for her in the whole city.
As the question was posed about escape, Bruce glanced over at Wash and shook his head, "Not really. I remember getting here and instantly sort of being swept up by Enigma. This..." Bruce began, making a sweep around the ship with a finger, looking around at the interior before returning his gaze to Wash,"...is a better place than where I was before I ended up here."
Bruce lowered his hand to his side and looked again at the girl. "I think she you have a good reason to stick around somewhere you're less likely to try to escape."
Maybe that was why the City was so willing to work with them, to keep them happy so they would stay. Either way, the City was smart. It knew much more than Bruce could probably ever fathom.
