"Maggie Garcia," Maggie said, shaking Lois' hand. Her grip was firm and sure, with none of the reluctance or quickness to let go that was characteristic of most of her generation. "Formerly of After the End Times, which means pretty much nothing here," she said amiably. "But I'm looking forward to writing professionally again." She smiled brightly, shouldering her canvas laptop bag--festooned with iron-on patches of 1990s grunge bands, early '30s metal bands, and calavera decals, it was hardly the most professional accessory. Then again, her one real concession to office attire was a tailored blouse to go with her brightly colored broomstick skirt and well-worn black boots. The overall effect was one of a college student rather than a seasoned professional.
