MM2 [Jeannie]
A new dawn.
A new day.

Only, it was Twilight.

The City spoke again and off to the streets again I went. Another chosen. Another task.

Would she struggle? Or go quietly into the night.

*blink* There she wasn't.

*blink* There she was.

There she sat, a vision of pink and blonde hair. It would have to be quick or she'd be gone, and that just could not be. The City required her, and the City would not be disappointed. Soft footsteps on the grass and then on the sidewalk and I approached the bench from behind.

The knife.... ah there i was, resting in my pocket, my hand tightened over the hilt and I stood behind, watching.

It would be quick. One fast slice over her throat. The blood would flow and clash against the bright pink of her outfit, marring her flawless perfect skin.

It would be beautiful.

She sighed softly, feeling both confused and alone. She knew that the City wanted her to help people, that was why it had brought her here, why it continued to speak to her through the streetlights. But the people that lived here were proving to be rather stubborn about being helped. A djinn could only do so much on her own!

As soon as she had the thought, she knew that was not true. That was a very cranky thing to think! And Jeannie was not usually a cranky sort of person. What was wrong with her?

A brief inventory left her frowning slightly, as she noticed for the first time a bit of a tingle at the back of her neck. Her hand reached back, fingers curling around the slender column to rub lightly. There did not seem to be anything wrong, but the tingle was still there. Dropping her hand to her lap, she leaned forward to look at her feet. Feet always disappeared first.

While she had met a few people, there was nobody that she knew particularly well, that she could call upon while she felt indisposed and random bits of her body disappeared. Not to mention her powers going off. Though, really, they were already a bit off, as they sometimes did not work the way she intended in this place. But since her feet were still intact, it was probably not as she feared. Feet always disappeared first. Though the neck tingle was bothering her.

Another sigh came from her lips, and she tilted her head up to the darkening sky. Soon, she would find a nice place to set her bottle for the night and surely in the morning she would feel better. Surely.

Oh, she did hope she was not becoming ill.

Still in the shadows I stayed, the unknown figure doing the bidding of one more powerful. A hand went to the lovely one's neck and I leaned in closer.

"Don't be afraid. All will be well. The City brings you life, and now it brings death. You are out of place. And now it can be fixed"

There was a slight breeze in the air, and it was not too late, though there were not too many around on the streets. It was better that way though it mattered not who watched. What was to be done, would be done. One down, the second here, and they would take more and more notice.

"You will be released from the bonds that holds you, the City can only hold so long."

She turned her head towards the speaker, preparing to tell whomever it was that the City was what had brought her here. It was her master and she would stay until it released her, but she did not think it would come with whispered words from a stranger.

But as she moved, she felt something that was worse than a tingle at the back of her neck. Along the side of her throat, there was the lightest of stings as a finely sharpened blade split the skin. Then there was a deeper, harsher pain. And some panic. It was all too fast for her to categorize.

But the last conscious thought she had before blackness claimed her was that this was very, very odd. It had never happened before. And then there was nothing.
