Irritated (AIM Log) Who: Pam and Eric What: A brief conversation about humans Where: Eric's office When: The night of Beauty's birthday party
Pam: So, I didn't kill the useless human because....?
Eric: -sighs- I have an unwanted attachment to her. Something I truly cannot help. Due to this I promised her that no harm would come to her from me.
Pam: It wasn't from you.
Eric: No. But as you are mine and I sent you to take her home, it would have been by my hand.
Pam: She screamed. She just screamed. At least Sookie wasn't so stupid, and she had sex. Even if it wasn't with you.
Eric: You don't think I understand that she's got no value at all? That she's obnoxiously innocent?
Pam: Then end her. Let her get hurt. Let her go the way of all good girls. Why the fuck did you promise not to hurt her?
Eric: What part of unwanted attachment flew by your normally perceptive brain?
Pam: What part of taking care of the problem are you incapable of making?
Eric: All of it. I cannot bring myself to do more than wish she would go away. Far, far away. Forever.
Pam: You have never let some stupid little human get in the way, never. Is it a spell? Have you been cursed?
Did that witch of yours do this? Did you piss her off and she attached you to that thing?
Eric: No, she's just as annoyed by this as I am.
Pam: Why does she not act?
Eric: Because beyond what causes me to be drawn to Beauty and be protected by her, Baba believes that it's some kind of story that needs to be played out, that interferring with it or killing the girl might not solve the problem the way we want it to.
Pam: This is ridiculous.
Eric: You're telling me. I've never hated myself quite so much.
Pam: What sort of fucked up world did I come to? -sighs- Your witch won't act at all?
Eric: I don't know if she can. -looks at her steadily- I have told you about my wife. My human wife.
Pam: Yes...-brow raise-
Eric: The idiot girl is her spitting image.
Pam: Fuck me.
-slumps- But...she's...it..-sits up- She can't be her.
Eric: She's not her. Beauty is French, born in the wrong time. The hair is too dark, but otherwise, she looks just like her.
Pam: You're stupid. -not flinching- She looks like her. She is not her. I do not mean her image, but who she is. She could never be a true Viking's woman. She is too weak.
Eric: I know this! -slightly angry- If it were that alone, I could move past it, but on top of that it seems to be some fucked up version of Beauty and The Beast. The girl draws me, and I cannot resist it. I can also not end it in any violent way that I would prefer.
Pam: Then you are cursed. And stupid. So is your witch. You are not a Beast; no Beast could have saved me.
Eric: If it were a curse, Baba could remove it.
Pam: Maybe she doesn't know it's a curse. Isn't it all a curse?
Eric: She would know. Her power is too great for her to not know. Her blood lets me walk the day, she literally brought this city to it's knees. A curse like this would be obvious and easy for her to undo.
Pam: Unless she's cursed too, and doesn't know. Every Beauty and Beast story has a curse. That's the whole point. You break the curse with love or some crap like that.
Eric: There isn't anybody here with the ability to curse her. I'm sure of it. I think it's less complicated than a curse. A power the girl has and doesn't know about. Though... love. Perhaps if I could get her hooked on that man she works with.
Pam: Or you could fall in love with someone.
Someone who is preferably not the whelp. I'd take the witch, and just barely.
Eric: That love is already there. So if that is it, then your love theory is wrong.
Pam: I know you care for her, but I would not have guessed love.
Do either of them know it is love? Have you said it?
Eric: I have willingly bound her to me more than any other being I've met. I have kept her secret so that those who would do me harm can't use her to do it. Doesn't that say it?
Pam: To a girl who's making doe eyes and believes that you are some romance cover hero? No.
Pam: You know words can be strong. Magic should prove that.
Eric: You think I have to say it to her? To Beauty? -eyeroll-
Pam: -slightly dark smile- I want to be there if you do.
Eric: I will talk to Baba and see what she thinks. If I have to do this, then you are more than welcome to witness my discomfort and humiliation. It's the least you deserve after I forced you to take the girl home.
Pam: You will break your promise though if you do it. You were bound to break your promise. You can't not hurt her. You always hurt the ones you don't love.
Eric: Then perhaps getting Errol to give her the attention she clearly desires is the way to go.
Pam: Or you get it over with. Break your promise, break her heart, and break her silly notions.
Eric: You of all people should know how I feel about breaking promises.
Pam: I of all people also know you are not so proud as to make your life this difficult.
Eric: Catch 22.
Pam: Never read it -slight smirk-
Eric: It's not just a novel.
Pam: No, it's apparently a way of life.
Eric: If you're just going to mock me for the rest of this conversation, you can leave. I'm in no mood when it comes to this matter. I already dislike it enough.
Pam: -rises and moves quickly to press a kiss to his temple- You have answers, Master. You will break a heart soon if you become that Beauty's Beast. I hope you did not make the witch a promise too.
Eric: -n a stern and low voice- I will not become that.
Pam: For all our sakes' I hope not. You'll have to kill me. She will not live long.
Eric: What I wouldn't give to have you kill her now.
Pam: What I wouldn't give for you to be someone else. Someone who will hurt that girl now to save her later.
Eric: We both wish that.
Pam: Then do it. -hand to chin- What is that line..."Cruel to be kind."
Eric: Let's not run around in circles.
Pam: I could always...think of a solution. -stands, moves to the door- I will not let her ruin you.
Eric: Good to know. I picked you for a reason. You have never failed it.
Pam: I just make you wish you'd picked that boy a few years earlier. Boys are always easier. -smiles and leaves to tend the bar-
