S is for Superman [ backdated and open to Bruce ]
He was flying low over the City's streets, catching the attention of the occasional dog walker or snowcone-eating child as he listened for problems on the evening air. Ever since he was released from his stone prison, he hadn't wanted to stop moving. Sleeping was so impossible that it didn't even cross his thoughts. There were several times already that he found himself tempted to fly straight at the sky despite the knowledge that he couldn't get out of the atmosphere to view the Earth. This wasn't Earth. But there was nothing Clark enjoyed more than ripping through the air with a cape on his back.

Superman's restlessness had resulted in a severe drop in the City's crime tonight. He was sure he'd been recorded on at least eighteen different cellphones, which was an odd thought for a reporter, not to mention the sightings by various police officers. If he kept it up, Superman knew he'd be on the frontpage for the next week or so. That didn't give him much time to see Bruce before the billionaire got offended.

The crude S signal in the sky was funny the first night it went up. He'd been ready to fly over there immediately, just to make some wisecrack about why Batman's signal was so much better looking than his own, but found he couldn't. The banter was appealing, if only because it would annoy Bruce. Clark didn't go because found there was a bitterness in him. Not over the signal, but over the fact that it'd taken a young witch whom he didn't know to bring him out of stone. He was going to be grateful to her for a long time. He had already set the idea in his mind to help her, somehow. From what Clark could tell, he had been in stone for a very long time. A whole network of superheroes had existed here, who insisted that he trust them, and yet none of them came to get him out of there. Not even the one he'd stood in front of to save.

It wasn't like him to be angry. So he kept flying, hoping the emotion would go away.

Superman had turned toward the docks when he saw the signal break through the clouds again. This was the fourth night. He tried to imagine Batman waiting up on a rooftop, perhaps in a lawn chair, next to a big spotlight. He smiled.

Alright, so it was still funny.

He made a sharp turn and shot off toward the rooftop of Wayne Tech, where the light was coming from.

Bruce had no idea how many days he'd come up here to try to get Clark's attention. He'd not been able to get a call through on his phone at the paper, and there had been no response to this. It was a little frustrating, to be honest. He wanted to be sure that Clark was okay, mentally. See how he felt physically. Ask if the witch was okay.

It seemed like forever before he saw the red cape in the sky, coming toward him.

Bruce remained in his seat, the lawnchair, holding onto the police light. Clark could come to him at this point, his ass was so tired. If he got up, he knew that his legs would just be pins and needles all the way down.

Sometimes, he wished he did have super powers. He was willing to bet a million dollars straight up that Clark never got pins and needles in any of his extremities.

He looked well enough, that was for sure. Didn't look like much or any damage had occurred to him while in his stone state. That was a very good thing, in Bruce's opinion. He'd wondered and worried that if Clark the Statue got a chip, that Clark the Flesh would have the same defect.

"Clark." Bruce nodded.

His red boots landed gracefully on the rooftop, not more than a few feet from where Bruce sat. His cape was still being pulled by the wind, even after he stopped. Superman crossed his arms, more out of habit than anything else. Well Clark also knew he looked good when he did it, which was helpful when someone was staring at you as if you'd come back from an extended stay at a hospital. Clark hadn't had that experience very many times in his life. If it weren't for his earth parents...

"Bruce."

He glanced at the lawn chair. It would have been funnier if he was in costume, but Batman had too much dignity for that. Bruce had too much dignity for that, really, but more guilt plagued Clark for making the man wait out of uniform. He was sure he'd feel worse later. Superman could tell the billionaire wasn't comfortable, even if the man had his poker face on. There was never a time Bruce didn't have a poker face on...he supposed that they had that in common. Clark was never without his glasses.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry." Bruce managed a smile. "I'm sure it feels good to fly again after being stone for so long."

He put down the light and thought about standing up. It seemed safe, he could feel his toes and move them without discomfort.

"The witch didn't call me like she was supposed to, so the only way I knew that you were out of statue state was rumors from the citizens. I'm glad to see you're okay. That's all that matters."

Bruce couldn't really describe just how happy he was to see that Clark was okay.
