Guys' Night Out (Logan with a guest appearance by Jo...who wasn't invited...hence GUYS night)
Jensen was feeling pretty thrashed emotionally after Fred left. It didn't help that she pretty much told him how much of an ass he was. He didn't need her to tell him that. He knew that already, but damn it he was allowed to be pissed off! And hurt. But you don't tell people you're hurt when you're a guy. No. What you do is you text message another guy that you were in a vulnerable place right now and wanted to do something stupid like go out and get drunk off of whiskey and hurricane shots in an effort to numb the ouchy parts, possibly get in a pointless and needless fight and he should come be supportive. That translates to:

Dude. Girls suck. Beers? Sent to Logan's phone. Logan, who responded in kind to something that translated into: I totally understand and sympathize, man. Why yes I would be happy to meet you for imbibing alcohol and support you in your hour of need for indulgance and school yard behaviour. Still won't bail you out of jail, though.

Logan had the night off and suggested another bar to go to, some place called The Roadhouse. Jensen had texted back saying if Patrick Swayze was going to be there to not be nice when it was time it was a no go. He was assured there would be no Swayze ass kicking so to the Roadhouse it was. He showed up with the mostly dead flowers and tossed them on the bar in front of Logan before sliding onto a barstool. "Here. Don't say I never gave you anything."

Logan had had a rare night off when he received Jensen's text message. He'd been meaning to check out the relatively new bar in town. After all, it was always good to know the competition. So far, the Roadhouse seemed a bit like a hick bar and was busy but not nearly as lively as Caritas. Of course, it lacked the laughably bad karaoke that was the norm in Caritas, and the insights from Lorne for its patrons. So he wasn't too worried about this place edging out their business. It seemed more like the place for backwoods hunters since it looked like a flannel convention inside.

He smirked and brushed the flowers aside, taking another draft of his beer. He was curious as to what had caused Jensen's girl issues, but guys didn't immediately ask for details about stuff like that. It was only volunteered after everyone had gotten sufficiently drunk enough that there was plausible deniability as to whether or not they remembered the touchy-feely conversation about feelings the next day.

"Aw honey, you shouldn't have."

He attempted to catch the eye of the cute blonde bartender, who came over quickly and raised an eyebrow at Jensen.

"What can I get you?"

"Yeah well," Jensen sighed that out as he leaned on the bar, "better you than the trash can. Boiler maker." Comparatively it was still lighter than what he could have asked for. He was working up to it. "Two of them." Hey he used to have to keep up with Cougar. Not that he ever really did, but his tolerance was still better than the average bear's.

Logan flashed the bartender a charming smile as she started to make Jensen's drinks. Hey, nothing like a wingman to help get a guy's mind off female problems, right?

"My friend here is having girl troubles. Poor guy."

Jo had heard just about every type of pick-up line there was after being a bartender for so long. So yeah, she was familiar with the 'wingman pretending his friend is sensitive and heartbroken' move. All the same, she had also lent her ear to a lot of people who needed it.

That was part of being a bartender after all.

So she set the drinks in front of the blonde guy and quirked an eyebrow, directing the question more to him than his younger friend.

"Is that so?"

If he wanted to talk, he would. And if not, well she would leave the two men to their drinks.

Okay Logan was going to get himself punched. But that was all par and parcel of the Guy Bonding thing. So Jensen just gave him a half hearted withering look before the beers and shots were put in front of him. Then he looked at the blonde behind the bar as he picked up the whiskey. "Yeah well my friend here is wondering when Twilight will get the recognition it deserves from the Academy so..." he smiled blandly as he dropped the shot glass into the beer, picking it up as it began to foam, "there we are."

He tilted his head back to down the beer then caught the shot glass against his teeth. Once it was all gone he slammed the beer glass, still with the now empty shot glass in it, to the bar top, shook his head and let out a breath. "Better."

Twilight was after his time, though Logan hadn't exactly been able to escape the hated movies here. He rolled his eyes and addressed the bartender. Hey, if Jensen didn't want a wingman, then he had no problem dishing it out a bit.

"Don't mind him. He's a little bit delusional."

Jo didn't comment on the little bit of back and forth posturing between the two men. Instead she glanced back at the blonde again as he finished his first shot.

"Well, I'll be around if you need another one," she said.

With that, she went back to one of the other waiting customers. She was going to be sure to keep an eye on the two anyway since they seemed like they were going to go through the drinks pretty quickly.

"I can't really argue with that." Because apparently he was delusional in thinking he could do a relationship with a girl. He frowned a little at that thought and considered putting back the next boilermaker, but didn't figure he should be falling all over himself yet.

He nodded to the bartender in thanks with a polite smallish smile then decided to put back the shot of whiskey. Half a boiler maker was better than none. "So." He grimaced in Logan's direction. "How about those Knicks?"

Logan tipped his beer in Jensen's direction with a small smile as he took the subject change and ran with it.

He didn't know how, but the City still got ESPN which he was highly grateful for.

And if Jensen didn't want to take about whatever was making his heart bleed, Logan wasn't going to beg him for details. Guys just didn't do that.

"Yeah, I didn't think they were going to turn that last game aruond. It was pretty incredible."

He made guy blather through another beer but after the third whiskey the shots became tequilas. After the second one of those he felt buzzed enough to frown and get on topic.

"So let me ask you somethin'." His words entirely blurry yet but they were getting shorter. "A chick you've been kinda seeing stops coming around..." he turned to point emphatically, "even skips Valentine's Day! What kind of girl skips Valentine's Day when she's got a guy?" He is easily sidetracked though.

"She skipped Valentine's Day?" Logan asked. "Did you have something planned? Because most chicks I know get pissed if you don't make some sort of plans ahead of time for that sort of holiday."

He shrugged and took another pull from his beer.

He'd ordered a tequila shot himself once it came around to it. That was definitely his hard liquor drink of choice, though he wasn't as far gone as Jensen.

He flicked a finger against the half dead flowers. "Had those waiting." He took a drink of his beer, part of his mind wondering if he wanted another shot of tequila. "I ate the chocolate."

He grumbled as he pushed a hand through his hair then leaned his elbows on the bar. "We weren't the going out type. Our idea of a date was to code programs." He grimaced. "I guess." Then he waved that off. "Whatever. She didn't show."

"I'm sorry man," Logan said, clapping a hand on Jensen's shoulder for just a minute before taking a healthy pull from his beer.

"Some women are strange about Valentine's Day. Even if you do one thing the rest of the year, they want you to make plans... go all out, that sort of thing. And then others..." he shrugged. "Some just wig out about it. Whether it's the commitment or expectations or who knows what?"

Veronica was sort of in that second category. He loved her and knew she loved him, but she wasn't exactly in a place where normal 'relationship' stuff was expected. She would say that it was a result of spending her formative years helping her dad track down people who were cheating on their spouses. But Logan still didn't always know what to make of her, even if they'd been doing the on-again off-again dance since high school.

Logan caught the blonde bartender's eye and gestured for her to come back over.

When she did, he ordered two rounds of shots for each of them and for the bartender.

He held up the shot glass to Jensen.

"Nothing numbs a broken heart better than tequila."

"That isn't even all of it, man!" He barely even looked at the blonde as he took one of the shots and tossed it back. "She finally showed up and dumped all this shit on me."

The second shot was pulled towards him, but it remained on the bar top where he turned the glass around slowly with his fingers. "Some bastard got her hooked on some shit. She never even told me about it. Apparently he turned back up and tried to push her back onto the junk. She said she said no because she knew I wouldn't want her on it. What the fuck is that all about?"

"Wait, she had a drug addiction that you didn't know about?" Logan asked.

The blonde bartender seemed to realize that this was private conversation time because she gave Logan an apologetic smile and slipped away again.

"But she said no because of you? That's a pretty big deal."

Logan was no stranger to drugs and addictions. Drugs were passed around at 09er parties like candy, so he might have had a different take on all of this than some. But in his mind, someone be willing to make a change that big for someone they were dating... that was usually a good thing. Or at least supposed to be.

He was generalizing because really? How the hell did he explain vampire blood crack? He wasn't sure he understood it entirely himself. He stuck to the facts as they were.

Logan got a slightly outraged look from his drinking partner. "You don't make decisions like that because someone wouldn't approve. That's not kicking the addiction. That's just displacing one for the other." Now the second shot got drained. "She needs to do it for herself."

"So you're worried that she's only changing for you?" Logan asked for clarification. "So instead, you broke up with her so she'll make the change for herself?"

He took a drink of his beer.

"Well, I suppose it depends on the addiction really. Was she on the stuff the whole time you two were together?"

He frowned deeper, not really liking being judged there. "She says she wasn't, but because the guy hadn't been around." He took a very long drink of beer. "But I broke up with her because she didn't tell me about this shit, and she got pissed at me for getting pissed." He swept his arm out before him dramatically. "Gave me the whooooooole guilt trip about how she did this for me and I was acting like an ass."

There was no judgment from Logan. Just information-gathering. Logan wasn't really the judgmental type of guy.

He downed the last of his beer and frowned at Jensen.

"I'm sorry, man."

There wasn't really anything else to say at this point.

He stared straight ahead at the bar top, his expression melting from frustration and anger into full out depression as he circled his beer glass with both hands.

"Yeah."

He'd like a lot more drinks now. The room wasn't spinning near enough.

Logan gestured to the blonde bartender who approached them again.

"Might want to just leave the bottle," he told her, slipping her a bill large enough to cover it.

Jo nodded and gave the apparently heartbroken a guy a sympathetic smile before she set the bottle of tequila between the two.

Once the bartender was out of sight again, Logan poured them both some more shots.

It was his way of offering support. He wasn't really good with feelings or words, but he was sure as hell good at offering ways to numb the pain.

He barely acknowledged the poor bartender. Some day he'll remember and come back to give her a big tip for her efforts, but right now all he seemed capable of doing was glancing at Logan, nod in thanks for the bottle then grumble as he pushed his empty shot glass towards him.

"Make sure I get home ok."
