Jack hadn't been looking forward to the rally. He was a bit nervous about Rufio showing up again, and there was a part of him that wouldn't have minded being at home with take-out, a bottle of wine and hopefully Fred. He hadn't had much chance for a quiet night at home since the election had begun.
All the same, someone needed to make sure that the City was taken care of, and he had a sinking feeling that his opponent wanted power more than he wanted what was best for people. He could have been very wrong and it was more than likely that he was paranoid after living under his mother's tyrannical rule for most of his life. All the same, running for Mayor was the right thing to do.
In his speech, he touched briefly on the importance of families and supporting the families of the City by way of improving the available daycare options and adding more child and family-friendly programming to the City events. That segued into his plan for improving the City's education system by increasing the financing for the City's school and implementing a few new programs.
After spending time on education, he discussed his plans to reevaluate the budget in the City and trim programs that weren't working anymore and add new programs that would stimulate commerce in the City and create new jobs.
He was almost surprised that he had made it through the entire speech without interruption. Of course, there was still the question and answer session for the rally and he would only breathe easy once the entire rally had passed by without any nasty surprises.
