Rainy Days and Mondays (open)
Sir Guy of Gisborne had been out riding when the storm hit. It was a very powerful storm, soaking him and Rupert in seconds. He had just sighed and patted the horse’s neck. Guy had ridden through worse weather than this. All that rain did was convince him that this strange city was located in England. He never found another place that had as much rain as his country. He had heard some scholar at a party of Prince John’s try to explain why the island had more rain. It was a very boring lecture at an otherwise nice royal dinner.
Guy had been happy that he had thought to put on his leather overcoat before he left his cabin. The graying sky had warned him of the coming rain, even if some other had laughed at him for wearing the coat on such a warm day. He smiled to himself when he saw those same people running for shelter from the storm. They were all idiots. Rain was nothing to fear.
He had hardly noticed when the power went out all over the City. He was still getting use to those strange torches… Lights, he remembered them being called. He rarely used the lights in his cabin, preferring to light candles or a fire in the fireplace.
He had actually enjoyed how quiet the City had become. The people that lived in places like this all their lives had no idea what they were missing. City noises often kept you from hearing what was going on around you. Even with the heavy rain pouring down, Guy was able to hear more now than he usually could when he rode through the City.
The weather reminded him of England. Of Nottingham. He would never admit it out loud, but Sir Guy missed his home. He missed Marian, Vassey and even that bastard Hood. He had been a bit disappointed when the storm ended.
Still, he went out riding, assessing the damage. His cabin had escaped mostly unharmed. He decided that he could go see if he could help the other people of the City. At least those of a suitable position, anyway. The peasants could help themselves after they helped the nobility rebuild from any damage.
