Rufio laughed and landed on the podium, swinging his sword as if careless, though he was careful only to dance the point around Jack's head. He was pushing buttons, trying to get a rise out of the man. He could tell from the reactions he was getting that his plan to disrupt the proceedings was going perfectly.
"Walk away then," he jeered. "Just like you did last time. But I'll just find you again. And I'll keep showing up, too, till you finish the game."
He kicked the microphone on the podium, then turned and looked at Fred, investigating the girl that the man found interesting and important.
"Hey, you're pretty," he said, surprised for a moment. He hopped down off the podium and went to the side, crouching down and laying his sword back along his shoulders. The blonde man was temporarily forgotten. He tilted his head to the side, feathered earring dangling in front of his mouth before he shook his head to drive it to the side. "You know him? He's just snail slime. If you want though, you can come home with me instead. I'm the Pan, and I don't need a bunch of ugly old people to clap for me to be a big deal."
