All fun and games until someone gets cursed (Narrative)
The crone sat quietly in the living room, her hands resting on her thighs, her eyes closed. She was thinking; she was conjuring, and she was planning. The couple that had taken her home were off in the bedroom doing whatever it was couples did when there were strange women in the living room doing the voodoo they do so well. The recent events once more put the City on Baba's bad side, and the little woman was working on a revenge.
The City wanted humans who were animals, or animals who were humans? Baba was going to give it exactly what it wanted. Or that had been the original plan; perhaps she'd still use it, just not tonight. As she listened to the grunting of the couple's rutting, her lips pulled slowly into cruel smile. The City was about to have a problem. A small problem perhaps, but a problem all the same.
With the power it had granted her, the access to its power, Baba started to work a little transformation on the couple in the bedroom. She'd once heard a euphemism for what they were doing, "Making the beast with two backs." Now Baba would make the saying a truth. The couple would eventually die, as their flesh became one. Wherever lips pressed they would stay there. Fingers would lose definition as they fused with the other lover's skin. As the process continued the bodies would be pulled together, so that there was no room between them. The couple lost in the ecstasy - because they were finally together in a way they only imagined - didn't notice that their grunts, groans, and moans were lost in what was once their throats.
Her eyes opened when she felt the transformation take. Rising slowly, she walked to the bedroom to see the writhing lump of flesh with its four eyes, four ears, two noses, two almost three legs. And two very definite backs. They would die eventually as the internal organs would eventually realize there wasn't enough room for everything. Any surgery someone thought could be done would come too late. Even the bones would be fused together by now.
"Enjoy this. Not many people get a chance to be so...connected." She smiled and turned, leaving the writhing mass - possibly still in the throes of passion. She'd overstepped the limits of what she could do, who she could harm. These had not been ones the City wanted culled from its children. Baba left the house and made her way to her next tiny revenge.
The day would be quite eventful for Baba and those she happened upon. A boxing gym would turn into a blood bath as the simian like males turned territorial, beating each other into submission or death. A group of coeds attacked an outcast, ripping the young woman apart for being different, for being unwanted, for being a threat; she wouldn't last the night. A man roamed the City, marking his territory and attempting to mount desirable mates. A woman took home a man to sleep with, and once they were done, she killed him and began to feed upon him. Another began to replace children in their carriages with her own; no one knew what happened to the children she stole.
Baba did not stop with this. There were a few men who had asses' heads or ears and tails. There were women who started to molt feathers, their mouths becoming beaks, their arms wings, and their legs those of birds. A rather annoying man found that he was truly the weasel so many claimed he was, and another became a snake. Funny that the snake and the weasel transformed so close together, wasn't it? No princes were hurt or became frogs. No princesses had to contend with swans. It wasn't a huge attack on the City's children, but it was certainly large enough to let the City know that Baba did not take kindly to being turned into anything against her wishes.
