Jack had been working at City Hall for a few weeks now. And he'd noticed that the City was in chaos. There was no leader. He'd been told that there was a Queen awhile back, but she seemed to have ruled about as well as his mother had ruled Wonderland.
He didn't know if he was the right man for the job, as he knew that those within the City generally didn't believe that a leader should be born into the job. And for that matter, he wasn't sure how much he agreed with that notion either. Elections seemed like the more sensible way to handle things.
Jack might not have known if he was the right person for the job, but he knew someone needed to step up and do it.
He was delivering papers to the Court House and naturally, overhearing the man who wanted to petition for a vote for Mayor piqued his interest.
He waited until the man was done and then approached him.
"Excuse me, but I couldn't help overhearing that you plan to run for Mayor. What do you hope to do for the City?"
Yes, he was inclined to be more than a little bit curious about anyone who wanted to rule. Perhaps not suspicious, but wary all the same.
