When There's a Will... [open]
Jareth looked up from his standing position in the lamplight at a curiously perched Great Horned Owl on the branch of nearby tree. It was dusk and nocturnal creatures were waking and out looking for prey. In this case, the owl was looking for prey. Or had been. A very unlucky chipmunk was twitching slightly in the grasp of one of the owl's talons. The final throws of life reluctant to leave the small body. He nodded his head to the owl, which seemed to nod back at him before eating his catch, and said, “Enjoy your breakfast.”
Then he looked around from his position in the park. He supposed he could go for a flight himself. Not for food, but in a way to have a decent look around and maybe see if there was a way out of this place and back to his home where his powers of transporting between worlds actually worked. Then he decided against it. No, tonight was a night to explore on foot not on wing.
There absolutely had to be a way out. He'd had his fill of this living like a peasant and having to do things for himself. Buying food, tidying up... laundry. It was such menial labor and meant for servants to do. Really, what was the point of being a King if one didn't have servants?
Tonight, he looked rather like he would have at home: black jacket that wasn't quite a tux with tails that hung down in back, silken blouse, gray trousers and his normal tall black boots. He was dressed to make an impression. To stick in someone's memory and to comfort himself. It was one thing to be in an unfamiliar place. It was a whole other to be stuck in that unfamiliar place with no conscious decision to be there and no choice as to whether you left or not.
It left a rather sour taste in his mouth. He didn't like not being in control. He was born to be in control. Was raised to be in control and thrived on being so. This was most unsettling.
Jareth considered for a moment seeking out that fellow, Howl, and seeing if he'd found a way out yet but thought better of it. Howl would seek him out if he found a way. That was the proper way of things.
So, instead, he started to move along the walk in the park, keeping a sharp eye and keen mind on the possibility for escape.
