Cool Blue Reason (narrative)

"Get off of the ground you idiot," Eddie sighed, rolling his eyes in a dramatic manner at the sniveling patient whom at present was groveling on the floor at Eddie's feet. As much as Edward adored being worshipped it was a much different circumstance when the subject at present knew naught much more than a broken six year old child and was trapped in the body of a very grow up man. "Please don't make me call the Doctor, I doubt you want a visit from him any time soon."

The man whimpered and Eddie huffed, kicking at the man with a green leather shoe lightly. The man emitted a giggle-cry and rolled on to his side without a fight of any sort.

Bored, Edward sighed. "You are worthless. Completely worthless and you're in my way. Go back to your cell," Eddie ordered, pointing up the row of doors to the one standing ajar a bit down the hall from where he stood.

A frown creased Edward's brow, and the giggling, half-sobbing patient peeled himself from the floor and fled in desperation back to his cell appropriate.

"Finally," Eddie breathed. Why had he been out of his cell in the first place? Usually Jonathan had better reign on his patients.

Pulling his cell phone from his pocket, Eddie pressed the speed dial for his lover and held the phone to his ear.

"I'm sorry but the number you have dialed is no longer in service. Please hang up and try your call again." That was not the voice Edward had been expecting. Confused, he pulled the phone from his ear, checked the number and knew it was correct. Again he got the same automated tone in reply.

Weird.

Next, Eddie tried dialing Effie.

Again, the same tone.

"What the fuck? What is going on here?" He wa afraid. Instantly afraid and very upset. The only logical explanation was that the City had pulled one of its tricks and had taken them.

Breathing hard, Edward dialed the last number he knew even though he didn't want to.

"Yeah? Whaddya want, Eddie?" Came the sleepy voice from the other end.

Relief touched him. But only for a moment. He was stuck here. Alone. With Harley. Good God.

"Get in here right now. We have a problem. A serious problem." Then he hung up on her.

Stalking to the front, Eddie threw open Jonathan's office door and it was vacant of any traces of the man in question. As if he had never existed.

That was the last straw. Eddie sank down in the doorway, pressed a shoulder hard against the jamb and put his face into his hands. Wracking, body-shaking sobs consumed him and he knew they wouldn't stop until they were good and ready. His family was gone. His family. Everything he has ever worked for didn't matter anymore to him, he wouldn't see his husband, his baby girl anymore and it broke him. It broke him.

ROARRRRRRR (Narrative)

Lumbering from its normal hunting grounds, across a span of land over an ocean, and into a strange place with mountains of shininess, the tyrannosaur followed its instincts to find the next dinner. There were tiny creatures running here and there. One especially stood out. Perhaps it was the red in the hair or the way it screeched as it ran. Either way, the tyrannosaur decided that it would be its next meal.

After devouring what turned out to be Anna of Arendelle, the tyrannosaur lumbered through the main street of the City, its tail thrashing down small shops and damaging larger skyscrapers.

It ate a car, or tried to, but then found it unappealing and spat it out into a public fountain. By the time it was done with Anna and the car, the people had mostly scattered. It ate a few others that didn't seem to know to run, and kept looking for larger prey.

Dino what? (Narrative)

Bruce couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had slipped his glasses from his face in wonder as the terrasaur terrorized a city block or two. From where he was standing the sight seemed unbelievable. An honest to God Tyrannasaurus Rex. The fact that it was currently eating citizens of the City was for a moment lost on the scientist. The studious part of his brain was running at full speed and outweighing the probability of danger. He didn't realize he was standing with his mouth agape until a girl nearby screamed.

Snapping his jaw closed, Bruce folded his glasses neatly, stuffed them into a pocket and straightened. He did not want to Outbreak, not in the middle of town but it was seeming as if he was out of options. He couldn't let these people die either by being selfish. He could have run, that was a proven fact. He had run from about everything else in his life so why not this? It seemed unfair, in a sense, to abandon these people that were fleeing for their lives already.

Weighing the options, the petite scientist breathed out hard. Stark would save them, right? They had to have someone...anyone?

Damn it all.

Rushing forward, Bruce regretfully knew it was up to him to stop the beast from further terrorizing the population. And this day had started out so promising...

It took only moments for the Other Guy to emerge in a sea of green muscle mass and tatters of clothes. It roared as loudly at the king of the dinosaurs, earning the attention accordingly. "Hulk smash puny Dino." It was a state of fact.

The gnashing of teeth came at the large green mass but Hulk lifted a mighty fist and drove it into the face of the dinosaur, earning himself a roar of surprise.

A leap into the air to avoid further snapping of teeth, and Hulk soared over the Rex. He landed behind the thing, and before the dinosaur could even try to turn Hulk had grabbed it by the tail. Emitting a roar of his own, Hulk jerked the lizard's tail and began to fling the thing expertly, not caring about damage to buildings or whom might potentially be in the line of fire.

Not even a certain red-headed female that was currently going by the name Effie Nashton, or Enigma. The vigilantee villainess had been crouching behind a car when the Hulk threw the dinosaur into the vehicle, sending the girl, the lizard and the automobile careening across the street and into a building. There was no way she could have survived the impact or the pressure of both the car and dinosaur landing on her amidst the rubble. Hulk had no idea she was pinned beneath the mess.

He stomped forward, grabbed the dinosaur again and began to throw it into buildings and punch it until it was dead and unmoving.

A snort from the green beast and it looked around at the citizens still fleeing. The streets emptied, and the Hulk released a mighty roar of triumph. It made no attempt to clean up any part of its mess, leaving the dinosaur where it lay. Instead, the green monster turned, shot glares at the surrounding buildings and wandered easily into the settling dust.

Dinosaurs and Hulks and Gods, Oh My! (Thor)

Giselle had been shopping when the T-rex came to town. After having seen how many other women dressed here in the City, and after having realized that her own mode of dress made her quite noticeable in perhaps not the best of ways, she had opted to try to dress more appropriately. She wanted Logan not to be ashamed of her, or of taking her out with him, either - though he'd never seemed to mind what she wore. In fact, there were many times when he said he liked her dress.

And so, with that in mind, she went to find a few things that looked somewhat like what she wore but also matched the modernity of the City. She'd been doing quite well for herself, too, and even started to think that perhaps she should try working in a dress shop herself, when a great roar shocked her from her browsing. Along with the rest of the people in the store, she hurried to the window to see what the commotion was --

-- and was greeted with a large green tail swiping through the glass. She shrieked and jerked back just quickly enough to miss most of the tail, and to get spattered with flying glass. It left stinging cuts on her skin.

Before she could recover, another roar completely unlike the other blasted their hearing. She got to her feet and this time, instead of running to the window, she ran away from it. It was just as well, as a car was tossed through the rest of the window and landed in the shop just exactly where she'd been a few moments before.

Giselle stayed put, shivering and cowering, until the horrible sounds outside died down. And then, carefully and quietly, she crept back to the window... and out onto the destroyed City street. Dust and debris was still floating in the air in a lazy descent downward. It coated her, that dust, and made her cough. Whatever had happened? She was completely turned around and directionless, but still tried to find her way through the mess.

She ended up in the middle of the street. It was just as well; no cars were daring to run through this mess.

But a double-decker bus thought it was a good idea, just beyond the dust and muck in the air, just out of sight.
