Jeannie was pleased as punch. Tickled pink. Which was most convenient, since pink was her favorite color and she was very fond of punch. Especially the kind that made her tipsy. She felt rather tipsy, even though she had not had anything to drink. She was just that happy.
She had a master again! Sort of.
She had given her bottle to Sir Guy, and she did feel a connection with him. But it was only a bit of a tug to her consciousness, rather than the all-encompassing pressure in her very being as it had been with previous masters. Except for the one immediately previous. The City had never been a pressure or a tug or a push or a pull. It had just been there. Not the way a proper master should be.
It was still there. With Sir Guy. More than Sir Guy. But she was not going to tell that sweet, kind, giving man any of that. She wanted him to be her master, and he was. Mostly. That was enough for her. To have someone to care for again, to make happy, to fulfill wishes for, it was a good thing. To have one so generous that he was allowing her to still help others was a great thing. It made Jeannie a very, very happy djinn.
A very, very happy djinn that needed to fill the pantry. Sir Guy had very little in the way of food in his cabin. She had already taken care of the basics with a blink and a nod. And she could do the rest that way as well. But what fun would that be?
Grocery stores were amazing and wonderful places, full of brightly packaged products that screamed they were New! And Improved! And it allowed her time to spend with others. Jeannie was a people-person, and mortals were such fascinating and wonderful creatures. She was constantly amazed. Just look at that man over there in the produce aisle. He was wearing the most eye-catching shirt.
