oh em gee, dinosaurs! [ OPEN ]
Shameful. It was absolutely shameful that he'd been within the City for this long and this was his very first visit to its Museum of Natural History. Wash was far from being a scholar of Earth-That-Was, but had always had a healthy appreciation for the subject. Wash had thoughtfully wandered through the exhibits of ancient civilizations, local flora and fauna but it was no surprise that his eyes went delightfully wide as he followed his complimentary map into the large hall of dinosaurs.

Wash's eyes followed the elongated skeleton of the Apatosaurus as it climbed higher and higher to the ridiculously small head atop that long neck. The pilot cracked a smile as he looped around that first display. He'd seen quite a few things in his lifetime, back and forth form one end of the 'Verse to the other --but these gigantic creatures still captivated his imagination. Albeit an imagination that quietly gave them silly voices and traitorous plots for global domination. Folding the museum map, he shoved it into one of the leg pockets of his fatigue green cargo pants. He didn't need any more assistance, he was exactly where he wanted to be.

Lyra trailed through the musem with a frown on her face. It wasn’t because it was boring (she’d heard some child her age whine about having to be there), not at all. Infact, it was terribly fascinating to the precocious young girl. Except, well they’d got it all wrong.

What she’d really wanted to learn about was dust – the mysterious matter her father Lord Asriel was studying, and what her mother had been experimenting with. Except she could find no such thing mentioned anywhere.

She wasn’t going to ask an adult for help, no way. She was perfectly fine on her own.

Wash, however, wasn't above asking a child for help. Especially after a few minutes of fumbling with the camera he'd removed from his pocket; attempting to take his own photo and get the towering skeleton in the shot with him. Another attempt was made, but when Wash viewed the small screen on the back of the camera, the fossilized skeleton waved in and out of the shot and he'd somehow managed to crop half his head out as well.

Nostrils flared with a frustrated exhale, but the unsuspecting girl wandered just a little too close to be safe from being asked a favor from the pilot in the hawaiian shirt.

"Hey.. excuse me there.. yes, you." The camera was offered out as he posed his query. "I don't suppose you have approximately.. twenty seconds to take a vid pic of me with my quite dead friend here?" Wash nodded briefly back to the dino behind him. "Eternal gratuity, I promise."

Lyra stared at the object in the strange man’s hands with interest. Her world wasn’t as, well, technologically advanced as this one – hence the camera being a foreign object. It was interesting though, and it certainly piqued her curiosity.

But she was certainly lost on his instructions. Vid pic?

“You want me to….what?” Lyra frowned. Pan mirrored her from upon her shoulder.
