Coffe, tea or me. (Violet // Cupid)
Elizabeth had found herself in this place in a state of bewilderment. She was an astute and clever minded woman but even her notions of propriety were challenged by being here alone with no connection, no one to properly introduce her to society. In some respects it had been a freeing experience, liberation of a kind she would never have dreamed possible. Women walked about and made themselves known to men with no chaperone. Men walked about with little or no regard for the ladies around them. People spoke most plainly about matters and had no issue with the so called delicacies of the fairer sex. How decidedly queer.

It had taken her days to settle in, she was still trying to understand so much but the boarding house she found for young ladies, was accommodating enough. Though she missed her family terribly, Jane most of all. Her beloved sister was her best friend and there was no other that could replace her in Elizabeth's bereaved and empty heart. How shall she ever manage? No pap to laugh with at the silliness of her sister, no Jane to be her confident and most trusted friend. No Charlotte to chat with over tea...tea..that would make her feel a bit better.

The boarding house had given her excellent directions to a tea shop a short walk away, walking for Lizzy was a joy. She had no mind about the short jaunt and took to it with great enthusiasm, her long skirts sweeping the paving stones as she made way to the shop. It was a store which sold only books, and they would allow one to read there! She was delighted with the place, in purest heaven to find such an escape.

The dark haired woman took her tea and sat at one of the outer tables while she sipped and enjoyed the works of a rather good writer. She was of no mind to read some of the more modern works, as they had been called. Filled with fright and subjects not fit for a gentlewoman to read. So sitting with her tea and her book Lizzy was quite content, for the moment.

Violet had been on one of her frequent hunts for parts when she spotted a new batch of trash cans. "Unusual but maybe that tea shop might be a good source for broken glass, do need some for those tests" as the inventor fished for her gear bag. She smiled in greeting to Lizzy before heading into the nearby trash cans by the shop (good thing most knew she was just an inventor that uses trash for projects and ongoing tests).

"Now let me see, was it broken glass I needed or is a stop by the salvage yard in order?" Violet muses, hearing something flying above her head but thinking it was only a low flying bird or something along those lines. To be honest she was just trying to forget the fact not many people would love someone like her.

Lizzy smiled warmly to the young lady who walked past her. Unlike most of those she saw this girl seemed to dress and carry herself with a bit of decorum. She was eternally grateful to see it and made a note to watch just what the intrepid young girl was--

"Ouch!"

Her tea splattered as the cup fell from her hand. A sharp pain throbbed in her shoulder just beyond the reach of her fingers.

"Oh!"

She sniffled and tried to see what had stung her or cut her, she surely felt a sting and now a radiating warmth from it. Perhaps that lovely young girl might help her....

"Excuse me, Miss.."

"I heard something fly above me" came the voice of Violet as she came out from behind the trash cans. She saw the arrow and fished out her pilers to lend a hand,"There seems to be an arrow of all things coming from your sweater, I think I can get it out without too many problems" she offered. For an inventor Violet was more ladylike than most.

"Oh, please do! I can't imagine how this happened. Do take care though, it felt exceedingly sharp."

Lizzy presented her injured shoulder and looked away, not fearful at the sight of blood but not at all comfortable with it.

Violet fished for her pilers and went to work on getting the arrow out of Lizzy's sweater. "These things seem to be flying like bloody mad today" as she worked, knicking herself with the same arrow by accident. Her wrist stung for a couple of minutes but once she got the arrow out she felt the same warmth,"Strange thing about these arrows" trying to unravel what she was feeling, feeling this for a woman just does not feel normal for some reason. "Did you see or hear anything odd that could explain the arrow?"

"Aside from a decidedly odd behavior in all those around me? No. But I had been told to expect such, as this is not home as I know it."
Lizzy agreed it was most queer, and was at a loss to find logic or reason to any of it. Miss Bennet turned to the girl and smiled, "Aside from you I have been most at a loss to find anything in the way of pleasant company outside of books." Lizzy stood and offered a polite curtsey with her head inclining to the girl. "With the lack of anyone else to acquaint us I assume we must do it ourselves. Miss Elizabeth Bennet."

Violet had thankfully read enough of Klaus's books to know a bit about Lizzy's actual time (taking a good guess). "Miss Violet Baudelaire and when in doubt take matters into our own hands so to speak" not seeing the small bit of blood on her wrist as she worked on getting the arrow free from Lizzy's sweater. "But things are rather off kilter and there seems to be no reason within science that can explain all of this" as she returned the curtsey.

"Yes, a land without reason indeed."

Lizzy was warming to the girl, something about her making the Bennet woman feel instantly at ease and comfortable. "Are you alone here? I have family but none of them have seemed to make it here." She found herself wanting to know more and more abot Violet, Baudelaire was that French she wondered.

"No family of blood but I am making a mini family at the boarding house where I live, mostly people my age live there and we do look out for each other like family. But I do miss my brother and sister, they are not here" thinking of Klaus and Sunny as she spoke. "But the arrow is out!" as she got a napkin to clean the pliers. "As for me I am a bit more at ease when it comes to science but I am trying to be more at ease among other people beyond the house" not seeing the blood on her hand.

"My dear Violet, you are hurt!"

Not that she discarded what the girl had said about her family, but the injury was of a pressing concern to her.

"May I?"

Asking before taking the napkin to gently and with infinite care, clean the wound. Lizzy frowned to think her lovely new friend might bear injury, worst of all due to her. Though it was not a true shot of cupid's arrow they had both been tagged by the same one and shared some form of attraction through it.

As Lizzy dabbed at the scratch she cradled the girls hand gingerly. "It will heal well enough I think."

Violet let Lizzy take her hand to clean the blood,"I must have knicked myself with either the arrow itself or the ends of my pliers!" after seeing the blood on her wrist. But even she was feeling something, something very new for a young woman having spent more time on the run before now. "This just feels so strange and yet so amazing" trying to unravel what was taking place.

"It is amazing," Lizzy laughed lightly and dabbed at the cut, which was clotting well and did not look like much more than a tiny scratch now. Se was pleased for that, knowing that her knew friend..whom she already held dear to her heart as her own sister, was going to be well.

"So much is amazing. My dearest Violet, I think it must be fated for us to meet. Me without connection or family suffering infinite loneliness. You have given me reason to hope for someone in my life in this often lonely city."

"Maybe whatever decided to go on this little rampage did us a good thing" Violet could smile now. "Two young women without blood family finding each other and making a new mini family in the process" her brainy side trying to unravel all this but her heart decided to take over.
