Anyone for Attack of the Ant People? [Snowed in]
(For Dexter, Ace, Dean, Claire, Venkman, Firekeeper, Logan E.)

It'd been fun for a little while. Traipsing through the snow. It became a little more difficult as the snow kept coming; it simply wasn't physically possible for this much snow to drop like that. And, when she noticed the dog fighting to get free of what had to have been a little old lady now turned lump of ice and snow, Fred decided it was time to get inside. Well, only after trying to free the little dog from its frozen mistress, which didn't work out so well, seeing as the damn dog tried to bite her rather than let her help.

Fred didn't want to leave the little yapper out in the snow, now falling in clumps, but she couldn't stay out in it either. No, she started looking for some place that was still open and could take her. Unfortunately, the only place she found that still had its doors open, figuratively speaking, was an old movie house. Actually, Fred didn't mind it; she remembered her mom and dad talking about places like this, and she supposed it could have been a lot worse. She even giggled at the posters hanging up; yeah, it could have been a lot worse.

She didn't seem anyone around quite yet, and supposing that concessions weren't open, she settled down on one of the velvet like couches in the theatre's lobby - sure, it'd seen much better days, dust rising as she sat, but there was something reassuring about a place this old still standing. Plus, the place was a lot warmer than it was outside. She just hoped she wasn't about to be all alone, or maybe that wouldn't have been a bad thing. She'd done alone in bad times before...

Fred stared at Dean for a moment. Her mind was working through the numbers; the odds were really against it, but then she started to factor in where they were, what she'd seen, just exactly how this reality worked. She leaned toward him and sniffed; yeah, there was that smell too.

"This is gonna sound like a really weird question, but you wouldn't be Sam's brother?" Yes, she knew it was a crazy question. "I mean the odds of you being Sam's brother, the Sam I know, are actually not as large as you'd think. Reality is a little strange here."

Blind Seer appreciated Fred's gesture. Humans so often excluded him, assuming him a dumb animal subordinate to them. He nodded at her solemnly, deciding that it was too early yet to try his wide approximation of a smile. Sometimes people were frightened of that many teeth all at once.

Firekeeper's eyes were wide and confused. Either the words they were using were strange and foreign, or they were words that Derian had never thought to teach her. "Do you understand them?"

Blind Seer rolled his eyes up at her and panted laughter. "It may as well be magpies twittering away at each other for all that I can tell. No, I cannot."

"He named for his eyes," Firekeeper told Fred. "Blue, like blind pup. But can see. Blind Seer."

She turned her attention back to trying to puzzle out Dean's words. "Buzz...killington?" she asked, trying to approximate the word as best as she could remember. She had always been a remarkable mimic.

Dean leaned back as Fred leaned forward to sniff him. Okay, yes, there had been times when both him and Sam had to ... um ... for-go showers for long periods of time. But he did take a shower ... well recently and he didn't think he smelled. He looked down at himself then back to her. Waiting for that face Sam usually gave him when he smelled the whiskey on him. He never did explain why he drank more. Sam wasn't asking either. Dean's policy, don't ask, don't tell.

"Sam? You mean big tall goofy guy with mop top hair? Talks in big words sometimes?" He looked at her and yes, the odds were great but also small. "Sweetheart, you just ain't whistlin' dixie here. Yeah, if you are talking about him, I'm his older, more good-looking brother." And here he would expect her to say I wouldn't say that. cause that was what he got usually. Or the look. That one that said he was being an ass. So Dean was putting his money on the last one.

He glanced to the other girl and nodded, "Yeah, you know a buzz killer? Deflater? Joy kill? Lack of fun? You getting those?" He looked down at the wolf, "He probably does."

"He's not goofy." Fred's nose wrinkled at the description, and there was a slight shake of her head as she smiled at Dean - he was a little silly. If that was the look he was expecting, he got it. It was just the "you are silly" look. "Quiet, broody, tall, but not goofy. But, I guess that's how big brothers can see little brothers. Goofy."

Fred shrugged, looking back at the wolf. She crouched down to look at him, mainly his eyes.

"Blind Seer. Okay. And he's just sayin' that he doesn' want me to be the morals police and remind people that this isn't our playground." Her hand lifted as if she was going to touch the intelligent looking "beast". "But, I am curious to see the projector."

It was probably odd to talk to the wolf rather than everyone else, but Blind Seer couldn't exactly make those faces that people did when she started talking too much.

Dean got this smirk on his face. "I think you have a thing for big tall and broody. Cute." He then looked to the stairs and then looked at everyone else. "You guys want to come? Me and cutie here are gonna curb our curiosity and check out the projector." Dean hoped that there would be some really good movies. Maybe THEM was there. Huge ants running amuck. That was too cool.

"Um, Blind Seer here wanna come?" He started for the stairs. "And yes, that is big brothers rights to pick on their little brothers. It's a born given right."

"What does fun have to do with buzz?" asked Firekeeper, more confused than ever.

Blind Seer ignored her confusion and held perfectly still. "Tell Fred that she may scratch behind my ears if she wishes," he told Firekeeper.

Firekeeper gave him an annoyed look, but did as he asked. "He say you can pet him if you want. Scratch behind ear. Won't bite."

"And my accompaniment relies on your wishes. The choice is yours, dear heart."

"I'd rather the company of these strange humans than face the cold alone, if that's what you're asking." Out loud, she told Dean, "He go if I go. I think I go."

Fred didn't squeal at being told she could scratch behind a wolf's ear, but she certainly smiled more. And, she certainly scratched behind Blind Seer's ears too; Fred always considered herself a good ear scratcher.

"Actually, buzz is sorta playin' on somethin' that makes a sound, buzzer. It means stop or wrong. Or it could be playin' on 'buzz' as in drunk or high, happy. Or, it could mean like a bee buzzes, but that's not exactly fun. Specially when..oh! Like when the buzzin' stops, the bees dead, so that'd be bad. Which prolly isn't how the word got started, but it sorta makes sense." She smiled up at Lady Blysse, still scratching. Then it sunk in.

"Cutie? And, I don't have a thing for tall, broody, quiet types. I just happen to know a few." Okay, maybe she had a little thing for them, but then she had a thing for smart and heroic too. "I'm still not certain we should just go lookin' round without given permission."

Dean chuckled, "Huh, know a few. Cutie, you have a thing." He looked down as Fred scratched at the wolf. He was a really nice looking one. Dean just watched before looking at Blysse. Fred tried to explain the word buzz but she went all the way around and then took a road trip.

"They way I use it means happy. Good feeling. Really up on life. Like when something really good happens to you and you are just pumped about it." He hoped his explanation was good enough.

He turned back to Fred, "Do you see anyone about? They left the doors open. Seems that is permission to me. Aren't you the least bit curious? C'mon, just a little peek."

Blind Seer's tongue lolled happily. Oh yes, he loved ear scractches.

Firekeeper was more confused than ever. Bees weren't happy... they were bees. They existed, and were necessary, and sometimes they stung. She cocked her head, a strangely dog-like gesture. Or, to be more precise, wolf-like.

Dean's explanation made slightly more sense. Not much, but slightly. She still didn't get the connection. "Have money," she said suddenly, remembering the wad of cash that she'd acquired in the week or so that she and Blind Seer had been out of the park. She fished it out from the pocket of the stained, torn cutoff trousers that she wore. "Not need. We not need be thieves."
