Is there a mechanic in the house? [Kaylee]
Find yourself in a strange place under less than explainable circumstances? That had to have been listed somewhere in the 'what-to-expect-as-a-green-lantern' guide, right? Except for that little piece of helpful literature didn't exactly exist. The blue midgets (aka the Guardians) expected you to learn on the job, improvise when necessary, and all that jazz. Up to this point in his relatively short career as GL, he had done so surprisingly well, and never made a big deal about it. Spending time on an alien planet? Typical Tuesday night, no problem. Except for the part where there was a problem; a glaring one. He had always been able to leave said places.
Kyle Rayner had found out the difficult way that The City would be having none of that. First, he'd tried to conventional method, just walk right out of the City. That would've been fine until he encountered a wall that put the 'Great' one in China to shame. Still, that wasn't such a hurdle when you had superpowers. So, he decided to put those powers to good use and fly over the wall. That didn't go over so well either. He'd never been great at measurements but the wall must have been hundreds of feet high, and when he'd actually made his way to the top, he discovered there was an even more frustrating hindrance to his escape. Some kind of invisible force (the ring hadn't been able to identify it) that prevented him from rocketing skywards. And after several futile attempts to use the ring's power against his invisible nemesis it led him to his current predicament. He'd done the routine detective work, asked around, found out his location, and gathered the general details. 'The City', as everyone else called it, had been so kind to provide the disgruntled GL with quite a few things; money in his wallet, a place to live, and other amenities. And while he found it counterproductive to accept things from a place he desperately wanted to leave he did notice that it had failed to provide him with transportation. Flying was great, amazing actually, but you raised a lot of eyebrows if you dropped in for a job interview through the window.
This was why he'd just got done haggling with an older man over the price of a beaten down car. From the outside, it looked decent, but the interior told another story. All the upholstery needed to be redone, the seats were ripped, there was some rust, and the engine and transmission required considerable amounts of work. How could he pass it up though? What red-blooded American male didn't dream of owning a classic muscle car? It was also why he'd managed paying just under three thousand dollars for it.
So, off he went, driving down the road, feeling slightly better about everything. His temporary good mood was soon ruined with the sound of a clank. This forced Kyle to pull over on the side of the road and shut the car off. When the hood came up so did smoke. Never a good sign. He kicked the tire in frustration and cursed his luck.
