You inhabit a fantastical universe where anything can happen. Super powered beings exist, and living a sane life is no easy feat for anyone. In such an extraordinary world, an average day can be ruined by the strangest of threats; be it viral zombies, megalomaniacal criminals or assassination attempts. All just part of a normal day in a very abnormal world. You don’t even glance up at the shrill whine of sirens or the roar of a giant monster a few blocks over. In the sky above a caped character is flying towards the fray; a member of some super hero team or perhaps a lone vigilante. Maybe the monster is a mythical creature or an invading alien or a minion of the latest super villain. A van is hurled down the street followed by another angry howl but you go casually about your business- buy your newspaper, sip your latte- and mutter cynically to yourself, "oh_marvelous." Oh Marvelous is an age 18+, social, thread based, third person, AU Marvel RPG played in real time (quite a mouthful). The game is set in present day. Although the game is New York centered, action takes place in locations all over the world. Plot is primarily player driven with occasional inclusive plots that affect the entire game. This game does not follow any set timeline or particular Marvel continuity. To this world, Harry Potter is only known for his quidditch skills, Sirius Black never went to Azkaban, and Neville eats dinner with his parents every Thursday night in his childhood home. Vampires, werewolves, and more exist. They have been known to the government for a long time, and now they are coming out of the shadows - and they come with a message. They are not a threat. They mean no danger to humans. But there are other things out there that do. The days that followed changed everything most people believed they knew about the world, about history, and most importantly, about themselves. Celebrities, politicians, the family down the street - they began revealing their true identities, and telling the world what they really were. Missing people that had been turned against their will came out of hiding, and orginizations popped up to reunite them with their families. The revealing of the supernatural was penned in the media as the Light of May, as society made room for the supernatural. It wasn't easy. Many, human and supernatural alike, were terrified of what this would mean. Some wanted to keep the supernatural abominations down. Leading figures of both Democratic and Republican parties were revealed to be supernaturals themselves, and joined together to fight for civil rights for the supernatural. It is revealed that if the supernatural were wiped out, half of the entire world's population would be gone. Independent parties popped up through-out the country, opposing supernatural rights, and the fight goes on. But those aren't the only battles being fought. Why did the Light of May happen? If the supernatural has always existed, why are they only making themselves known now? For centuries, those with supernatural blood have been hunted, held, and killed - all for the benefits of their blood to hunters, and vampires who don't want to play by the rules of etiquette. There was a time when the angels, and even the fae, fought to protect them. But the fae have been extinct for hundreds of years, and worse - the angels seem to have disappeared. There is nothing fighting the demons of the world at bay now. The human race is at risk, and they are not alone. _________________________ The Light of May is an original supernatural game, taking place in a time when the world is adjusting to the world that has been hidden since the beginning of time. Background Taken and Held Rules Apply Credit World’s End is a panfandom game focusing on the survivors of destroyed worlds, and what they choose to do afterward. Some try to eek out a new existence at “The World’s End,” a world many of the displaced arrived at after the destruction of their home world. Others seek to combat what is commonly called “the darkness,” the eater of worlds, and prevent it from corrupting and destroying even more worlds. Some study “The Door” at The World’s End, and the machinery left behind by Ansem the Wise, hoping to gain information that may allow them to restore the lost worlds and those who lived there. Was there any point in this madness that I could have stepped in and done something to change the course, or was this meant to be? Could I have intervened, when my father was holing himself up in his study for days - weeks - at a time? Could I have changed things then? When I saw he and Danni were getting too close, would he have listened to me? Would it have changed things even then? Should I have stepped in when I saw what Danni was after, and when I saw where my father's madness was leading him? When the mages began to disappear? When would have been a good time for me to do more than pray to the Elder gods? I don't know that I could have done anything, but at least I could have tried. My father is gone. He's been gone for nearly two years. I have read his notes, deciphering what I could, but it is enough. There are nine stones that can rift holes in the world. I suppose when you've gone insane it doesn't do to think small. Nine stones. Nine stones that could be anywhere, be in anyone's hands. I do not think Danni has any of them (or if he has them, he cannot use them). So why do I start this journal now? Why not two years ago, when he first vanished, or two years before that when I realized he was working with magic more powerful than he had any right to be holding? Because yesterday I was approached by a horse who could speak to me. I don't mean he flapped his lips and snorted ... I mean I heard him inside my head. His name is Carion, and he has a quest. I suppose this is the way the Elder gods answer the prayers of the devout - or choose to rectify the mistakes of the mad. I won't pretend to understand, and a great deal of this baffles me, but Carion is to find the stones. He believes he has at least one human companion, and tomorrow we'll set out to find him. Or her, I suppose. From what Carion has told me so far, the stones have been scattered. He can feel them pulling him in several different directions, some closer than others, some stronger than others. He believes they must be destroyed, and I am inclined to agree with that sentiment. However, until we find his human companion - he calls him the Chosen - then he will be unable to proceed. After all, how many jewelers will sell to a horse? And how many horses can mine or reserve themselves a stall at an inn? I do not know precisely what part I play in this. Carion seems to think that I shall be the brains of the operation as it were, the organizer. The one to utilize the connections we've built since the decree against Magic thrust us all underground.
