Memorial Service at St. Mungo's to Commemorate Order Members and Students Lost in the War Characters: Any and all. Setting: May 13th 1998, 7:00 PM, a room in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Summary: The Memorial Service mentioned in this post. Warnings: None.
On the first floor of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Lavender Brown and her family rented a room. On the door it stated in charmed gold letters, "Memorial Service" and there was a silencing charm placed directly outside the door to provide utmost silence for those in the room. Upon walking in, Parvati helped Lavender charm the ceiling with small gold fireflies, and all four of the windows were draped with tapestries of the crests of each Hogwarts House.
It was a modest setting. Seamus Finnigan brought candles that were lit and placed on small tables around the room, but the center was left bare. A table book with a chair was placed at the corner of the room as a suggestion of Bianca Podmore. Each page had a picture of those who were lost in battle. There was a quill and inkwell sitting next to it for those who wished to write a quote, special memory, farewell, or add pictures themselves. This was designed for people who did not specifically want to speak at the ceremony.
Once everyone had arrived, Lavender was dressed in St. Mungo's garb and limping with the help of a magical crutch. Healers were at the assistance of those who needed it. She called everyone to the center and asked them to take out their wands. After a name was mentioned and everyone said what they wanted to say, the group would say "Lumos!" together and point their wands in the center as a sort of physical farewell and honor to those who passed.
After the memorial service was over, Lavender then explained that she would duplicate the book for whoever wants it, and will also donate one to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft of Wizardry.
