Who: Your Favourite Star Wars Couple
What: Evie is being "suggestive".
When: [Backdated] 3 May 1998, early evening
Where: The Seven Sisters Cliffs
Rating: PG

Letting the sound of Channel fill her ears, Evelyn sat there, wrapped comfortably in a heavy quilt somewhat near the edge of the Seven Sisters. It was her spot, the one place she’d been stalking since she was a child, and the only place she truly felt at ease when the world seemed to be toppling. Only this time, it was different. This time, she had her face buried in the crook of Jack’s neck, savouring the crisp air of the Channel and the warmth of him. It was a moment filled with promise, than despair.

Smiling playfully, she let the fingers of one hand lace gracefully through his. “What do you think will happen now?”

For his own part, Jack smiled softly as her hand intertwined with his. Sitting out here with Evie, knowing he was sitting in a spot that was special to her, meant a great deal to him. He still hadn't forgotten that she said she loved him. It was over the journals, but he knew she meant it - and not in that 'I love my best friend' sense. He told her the same right back, no hesitation. And then he went to the store and spent the evening cooking with Evie, which turned out to be one of the most relaxed, pleasant times he could honestly recall. It had been one hell of a life for a guy who was only sixteen.

"Whatever we want," he answered, tilting his head to look out at the water. "Or were you looking for something specific?" he added, with a hint of a laugh to his voice.

Evie’s lips quirked into a grin, evidently amused at the prospect. “Anything, hm?”

While she definitely could have rolled with that fantastic bit, there was something in particular that she’d been looking to ask of him, though her cheeks were tinged pink at the thought of it. Something told her that it was the worst possible time to be talking about something like this, but. She wanted to know. “Well, I suppose there was something... specific that I’ve been meaning for us to do.” Slowly she lifted her face somewhat to look him in the eye properly. Merlin, she could feel the heat in her face.

Jack's eyes widened for a moment before he favoured her with his best attempt at the Han Solo lopsided grin. Any boy his age would immediately assume he knew exactly what she was hinting at, but one of the things Jack liked, no, loved about Evie was that she was very good at going against what you might expect. He knew she'd punch him if he made some kind of comment about sex and then tell him she meant doing some more prop improv. Then again, prop improv never brought that rush of colour to her cheeks - which he was learning to really appreciate.

He leaned in and gave her a soft kiss before resting his forehead against hers. "As long as it's the two of us, I think we can handle just about anything," he answered, hoping it was an answer that wouldn't get him in trouble if she actually was hinting at something else.

Damn that lopsided grin. While it was no Han Solo, the fact that Jacky had made it his own was enough to eclipse any old Harrison Ford. In fact, it made Evie want this even more. After all. It was about time, wasn’t it?

Enjoying the feel of his forehead against hers, she couldn’t help but lightly chuckle in response, “Well, I’m hoping it’d be just the two of us. Otherwise, I’m not sure if I could handle a third wheel.”

Okay, now he was pretty certain she was talking about that. "Hit me if I'm wrong, Evie, but are you talking about what I think you're talking about?" he asked settling in closer to her - as possible or impossible as that might be. "Because if you are, I just want you to know," he paused, wrinkling his eyebrows for a second. "To know that I'd love to, but not unless you're sure." Merlin, did he say that right? Or did it come out all wrong. Jack knew he was a lot better at telling jokes than he was at being romantic.

Hopefully she wouldn't hit him. He gripped her hand to show that he was sincere. This kind of thing was always easier in the films.

It’d taken Evie a good minute to actually interpret his reaction, not quite sure what the hell he’d been talking about. Why wouldn’t she have been-- And that’s when it hit her.

Or that’s when she hit him, albeit a lot less harder than usual, because that was definitely NOT what she’d been referring to. Though when she thought back in retrospect, she suddenly understood why it might have came off as suggestive, and she was pretty sure the blood had rushed back to her cheeks. This... Merlin, she didn’t know whether to be embarrassed or to just... well. Laugh, which she ended up doing anyhow, despite the fact that she should have been bloody mortified. Which she was, but. This was Jack. It was hard not to grin after that. “I was, um, actually thinking more along the lines of... a date? Since, you know, we haven’t really been on a... proper one or anything...”

Wow. They were absolute shite at being romantic.

Jack was both glad to see that he was right about her always going against what you expect and a bit embarrassed that he brought that up and was wrong. Still he laughed along with her and rallied well. "Right, see, I'd love to. If you're sure," he commented, smirking again and bumping shoulders with her softly. Though he honestly considered this, being here right now, was technically a date.

Maybe she meant taking in a film, or seeing the theatre, along with dinner and probably some flowers. Music? He wasn't entirely sure, but he did know a guy at the local movie theatre down in the muggle village near his house and they generally had themed weekends with several movies in a row. There'd been science fiction movies (which was how he first saw Star Wars), kung fu films, standard comedies, even the occasional 'chick flick' weekends. Though, Merlin, that's when it hit him. The perfect date for the both of them.

"Evie, I've got it. Just a couple of days ago, Les Misérables opened up. Not in the theatre, but an actual movie, with Liam Neeson as Jean Valjean and Geoffrey Rush as Javert. We could go see it together?" he asked, smiling brightly. Then he remembered it would be a date. "I'll treat. And get dinner too?"

All right, this certainly did not count as a date. As far as Evelyn knew, they were doing what they always did -- and that was being awesome. Call her a girl, but she wanted to know what a real date was like. Besides, since they were already past the anxieties of fussing about what to wear or how to behave in front of the other person, it should have way easier for them, yeah?

“Are you kidding me? Neeson and Rush? And in the same movie, no less?” She returned a bold smile. How could she not be sure about that? “All right. But I’m not letting you pay for everything. Les Misérables, maybe. But dinner’s on me. I know this wicked Thai restaurant down in Worthing that’ll blow your mind. Or just your mouth, because they’ve got the best Tom Yum I’ve ever tasted.” After all, they were both broke teenagers. She couldn’t just let Jacky pay for everything. That, and she was too much of a feminist to let that slide.

"It does amaze me what the Thai can do with shrimp," he admitted. "All right, since you know where the place is, I'll let you get dinner, and I'll promise not to eat too much, not on a first date." Jack smiled at the end of that part of that and nodded. That was pretty easy to sort out, really, though he wasn't sure if he was supposed to dress up really well or not. Maybe at least what he'd wear to one of his dad's stupid parties.

"Tomorrow, then?" he asked, not entirely sure if there was some method to planning a date.

In all honesty, it wasn’t as if she’d had any experience in planning one of these things either. But she’d seen enough movies to get the gist. Though she as hoping they didn’t have to get dolled up. “Tomorrow it is. As long as we can keep it casual.” With that, she shoulder bumped him back, before laying back on the ground, her hands forming a pillow beneath her head as she gave him a half-smile. Hopefully it wouldn’t be a disaster -- but if it was? At least it’d be with Jack.
