| WIRELESS: A Message from the Ministry of Magic |

[Heard on every wireless station in the land around 6 this morning, and repeated and discussed frequently thereafter]
ANNOUNCER: And that concludes the update from our new station manager. Now, witches and wizards...Mr. Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minister of Magic.
SHACKLEBOLT: At four o’clock this morning, Tom Riddle, better known as Voldemort, was defeated and killed by Harry Potter.
[A pause, allowing the names and the actions to settle]
The dark magic Voldemort used to resurrect himself has been destroyed. He cannot return. His death is fixed and permanent, the fractured remainder of his soul consigned to its eternal reward. His followers, the Death Eaters, are being arrested or pursued by the Auror office, newly headed by Neil Williamson, even as I speak to you now. Our long national nightmare has come to an end, thanks to the heroes who fought without ceasing to bring about this day.
Many good people have been lost in this war. Even as we celebrate our freedom gained, we will mourn those deaths. Some were innocent victims of evil, with lives cut unduly short. We will remember them. Others stood up and fought that evil, losing their lives to protect those who could not protect themselves. We will remember them.
We will remember them all as we begin rebuilding our country. We will rebuild our homes, rebuild our government, rebuild Hogwarts School…rebuild our lives. The only natural direction of time is forward, and that is the way we will move now: forward, together.
To begin, a new ministry department has been formed: The Office of Reconstruction, led by Director Arthur Weasley. This department shall oversee volunteer programs, the restaffing of the Ministry of Magic, and all other government efforts designed to support the resiliency of our society.
The first project of the Office of Reconstruction is the creation of Communication Pads. These networked notebooks allow written conversation both public and private to be conducted all across England. Pads can be acquired at volunteer stations in the lobby of the main Ministry offices, at Hogwarts School, and in the Ministry satellite offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Oxford, Dublin, Galway, Edinburgh, Hogsmeade, and Glasgow.
This message will be repeated, and further updates will come over the following days. Please stay tuned.
ANNOUNCER: Thank you, Minister. We’d like to reiterate once again that anyone with information regarding missing persons, escaped Death Eaters, or other matters of security should floo the DMLE Information Point. That is D-M-L-E Information Point. Azkaban releases continue - a running list of the newly free may be found on the Communication Pad system. Minors without guardians and those whose homes are presently unlivable may seek the nearest shelter by consulting with local Ministry offices or checking the Communication Pad system.
