WHO: Apollo Wilkes and Alecto Carrow
WHAT: Delivering jobberknoll feathers
WHERE: The apothecary
WHEN: Monday morning
RATING/STATUS: Low / Unfinished

Apollo's business was not in selling his family's creatures to other parties. It was not harvesting animal meat, or selling their parts to interested parties. At least, he pretended it wasn't. True, the Wilkes' Sanctuary was more about the rescue and care of magical creatures than anything else, but unfortunately the rescue and care of magical creatures did not pay for itself.

Selling jobberknoll feathers was one of the things that did. He was the delivery boy this month; it was a duty he rotated with each of his parents. Their jobberknolls had been molting lately, and he had more than the apothecary's monthly order with him.

There were no customers when he arrived, which was just as well; Apollo didn't like waiting. He rang the bell on the desk and waited.

Alecto had been in the back, counting inventory. Tobias insisted on an inventory count once a month almost, and everything had to be kept neat and organized. The bell on the counter rang, and Alecto cursed as her counting was interrupted. She took a few minutes to put the paperwork down and save her place on the shelves before rushing out to the front of the store to see Apollo Wilkes standing there.

"Oh Apollo, hi, how are you?" she said as she brightened a little when she saw him. It wasn't a customer; it was actually someone she liked coming in the store. "Jobberknoll feathers right? Or was it Ashwinder eggs this month?"

"Feathers this time," Apollo said, holding up the case. "I'm sure you'll be getting owl orders for them soon, what with Hogwarts starting up again all." He put the box down on the counter, glad to be rid of it. He liked their menagerie, but feathers without birds had a tendency to make him sneeze. He hated sneezing, and did his best to hold in the next one. He was unsuccessful.

"Feathers. Right, of course," she said as she ducked down behind the counter and rifled through some paperwork. "Yeah, we'll be getting owls. Once Hogsmede and Diagon dry up." She stood up with the paperwork, and laid the folder on the counter. "Of course you know the drill. Fill out the top half, and sign at the bottom," she added with a smile.

Apollo cringed at the sneeze, but moved on. He glanced over the paperwork. It hadn't changed in the four years he'd been delivering for his family, but he was always careful with it. He filled out the form in his blocky handwriting as he spoke. "Well, the smart kids'll start here. Better quality ingredients."

"Ah well thank you. Tobias will definitely appreciate it." She filled out her half, signed it, and waved her wand to make a quick copy. "So how have you been?" she asked, welcoming the excuse to not return to work just yet. Tobias had been working her to the bone lately, due to the return of Hogwarts students. So a little break in her day was more than welcome.

Apollo raised his eyebrows, considering how to answer the question. It was one few people expected to be answered honestly, and even fewer wanted to hear the truth. Still, Apollo was nothing if not honest. "Restless," he answered wryly. "Impatient. Tired of waiting."

Alecto nodded. "Yeah, me too. But I've been planning. Or trying too... Tobias runs me ragged over here, so it's taking a while," she answered as she leaned on the counter. It was true; she had been trying to plan this attack on breaks and at home. "But I think we're ready. What about you?"

Apollo shook his head, his expression not changing. "They're hard to get to, our set," he stated. It was almost a complaint, but held an odd note of admiration. "I'm not saying I want it to be easy, but I'm sure we're disappointing Him."

"Well, we wouldn't want it to be easy," she said with a smirk. Granted, her target wasn't easy; attacking a shop in Diagon Alley was sure to draw attention. So she and Lucius had to be careful. "But in all seriousness, ours isn't easy either. But I think we can all handle it."

"You should go, then," Apollo commented. "It'll inspire the rest of us to get off our arses and be proactive." His tone dripped with sarcasm, but not toward her. He hoped she would step up with her attack, and was sure she'd do it well. He was merely frustrated.

"Well, soon. I plan to. Just can't be too careful. The last time I underestimated a target... well you were there," she said with a shrug. No, this time, she was going to be careful. Make sure everything was in order. Over plan the thing, like they did was Whimple. Better to be safe than sorry this time around.

Apollo nodded. "A suspected Order member is a bit different than a couple of pastry bakers. Still, I take your point. I don't believe the phrase 'better safe than sorry' quite fits, but you know what I mean."

"True..." she said with a shrug. "I suppose I am being overly cautious this time. I'm just tired of getting burned." What she didn't mention was that she was worried about there potentially being a spy in their midst. A spy who she was good friends with. "Perhaps this weekend, I'll prod Lucius into moving on this."

Apollo nodded, then looked back at the entrance of the store. "I should probably go. Can't risk being overheard on this," he added, noticing the foot traffic outside. "We should keep each other up to date on our statuses."

"Yeah, good idea," she said, in a low voice. She too noticed the customers walking towards the door. "And yes, I will keep you updated. Thanks again, Apollo."
