WHO: Alecto & Amycus
WHEN: Friday night
WHERE: Leaky Cauldron, London
WHAT: Catching up...
RATING: Low probably

Time flew past him these days so much faster than it had in school. Amycus had originally planned to meet his kid sister on Monday but somehow time evaded them and they had pushed the thing to Friday night. Not like it really mattered though. His Friday nights would be boring now that Montague had made him leave her flat. Stupid rent payments. She had been convinced that he had not paid his last one before he left for the States. Upon his return, she met him with some strong accusations. He had to fence some of his treasures from the American West to pay since he was unwilling to empty out his Gringotts vault. At least he had his own place now and could decide when people would come or leave. The price was fair even if the company was lacking.

Pushing his way into the Leaky Cauldron, he looked for a booth on the other side of the room. Death Eater that he was, Amycus always tried to sit just right so he could keep an eye on the door to see who would enter. Sure enough, a booth proved to be empty and he crossed the room and sat down, waiting for Alecto to arrive. In the meantime, he relaxed slightly and discreetly watched as people milled around the room.

Alecto had a long week. Tobias had her repotting the Devil's Snare (again), and she was tying to sneak plans for their new assignment from the Dark Lord. But her boss kept her so busy that she really didn't have the time to make any plans.

Tonight, however, instead of going home and working on the plans like a responsible little Death Eater, she decided instead to meet her brother for a drink. It had been entirely too long since the last time she went out, and even longer since she'd spent time with Amycus. So tonight, was an exercise in being irresponsible, and she could handle that.

She pushed open the doors to the Leaky and immediately saw Amycus. With a large smile plastered on her face, she said, "Hey! What're we drinking?"

Grinning broadly as Alecto settled down across from him, Amycus exclaimed, “I ordered a pitcher of buttered rum a few minutes ago. I was unsure what you might want but I remember you used to drink this stuff with my friends and me during summer hols. Ah, here comes our waitress now.” Nodding his thanks, he picked up the pitcher from the table and filled his glass with the liquid.

Taking a small sip of the drink, Amycus asked curiously, “So how are you, sis? I assume you must be keeping busy.”

"Oh good, I could use some rum," she said and then started laughing. "Yeah, you lot taught me how to drink. I got Cassandra MacNair into trouble because of that," she added remembering that night of firewhiskey and then a cross Walden coming home.

Alecto filled her glass, and too a generous sip. "I'm good, I suppose. Not keeping too busy. Actually been quite bored, to be honest. Well, not anymore." She dropped her voice a bit lower. "Now that we have orders."

Amycus grinned mischievously, Did you get her drunk or something? I would guess her alcohol tolerance is fairly low. It probably would not have taken much."

"You don't mind if I light up, do you?" Withdrawing a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, he offered her one.

Taking another drink of the rum, he stared glumly at the pitcher. "Life has been pretty boring of late. You remember Lucy Montague, right? The girl I was dating that summer holiday we got you drinking. I always hoped that we could..." He trailed off while thinking of better times.

Alecto chuckled. "Yeah, I got her drunk. And then she threw up on her husband's shoes..."

She took another drink, and shrugged. When Amycus offered her a cigarette, she took one and lit up. It made her cough a bit; she wasn't much of a smoker.

"I take it things didn't work out? Huh, I know the bloody feeling," she said as she took a long drag of the cigarette and sat back. Her love life, or complete lack thereof, was nothing short of a disaster. Leave it to her to fall for her friend's husband.

Cackling gleefully, Amycus asked, "How did Walden respond to that? He does not strike me as the type to appreciate behaviour of that variety." Amycus had been two years behind Walden in school and he knew him mainly through their Ministry work. Although of course, both men had been Death Eaters for a number of years by now. He definitely did not know the man as well as Alecto did.

Lighting his own, he did not cough. He had been smoking since fifth year at Hogwarts. These cigarettes were a poor bloke's cigars. They did a bloody good job of calming his nerves.

"We had a huge argument right after I returned. It's fair to say that we are done for good this time," Amycus pouted as he drank some more of his rum. "How about you? Is Mum trying to introduce you to all the sons of her friends."

Alecto laughed. "Walden went to bed. And I left as soon as I bloody could. I did NOT want to get yelled at. But he got over it soon enough. I mean, we're friends, so he didn't hold a grudge. Oh, did I tell you, he started teaching me how to punch like a man? After I broke my hand hitting that Dearborn prick. I'm not too bad either," she said as she lit her cigarette. Ok, she needed to stop talking. She was talking about Walden too much.

She took a long drag. "Well, sorry to hear that, but you can probably do better than her anyway," she piped up. "Mother, good lord. Yes, but she's exhausted all those possibilities. I just get random owls every now and then, asking if I'm dating anyone. Actually Cassandra MacNair, Walden's wife, you know, she started taking interest in finding me a man. The girl likes to play matchmaker."
