We're All Mad Here
"Words are my life!"
|Name:||Wacky Writers R Us: A Writing Prompt Community|
|About:||The (only) "I'm Occassionally Inclined To Write" Writing Challenge!|
Designed for those who have had experiences (or never bothered) with other writing prompt/ challenge communities and wanted something that might be a little less structured. Just call us the little-engine-that-might work. So please, spread the word and gather your friends and join in the fun. Right now we're just writing for writing's sake but if we get enough members we could have voting and prizes and such, I don't know.
We'll have prompts, potentially all at once or more likely one a week. They're "due" at the end of each month. You can do just one, all, or none (see Rule 2).
Somewhere between 100-1000 words is the general aim. Theme type will change. Some prompts will be lyrics, or a situation, a piece of dialogue, a word, feeling, or all of the above (maybe).
Example Post: (Please start posts with this heading to keep things a little uniform)
Rules / Guidelines:
1.) Have fun!
2.) If a month comes where you've got a lot on your plate or your muses* have adandoned ship, it's okay. We just ask that you post (or better yet email/IM a moderator) so they know. Especially if/when we get to the point of having votes and such -- if it's a matter of delay, we're okay with pushing deadlines back a day, but can't if we don't hear from you.
3.) Play nice! No flaming people, or their writing. Constructive criticism only! We work on a three-strike rule depending on the severity of the comment. I'm not saying that you have to be overly nice or only say good things... if something's gramatically incorrect or doesn't make sense, point it out (nicely!). Questions, asking for clarification, reactions and suggestions are encouraged!
4.) Did we mention have fun?? :)
*Muses, fickle, flighty creatures that they are, are hard to pin down. We get that. Sometimes talking helps so feel free to contact your mods (and fellow members, though that's up to the individual). Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can really help work out an awkward scene or offer suggestions on the hardest part -- just starting writing at all. We're aiming for a friendly, familial feel (yes I adore my alliteration) so definitely don't hesitate to get some advice/beta-ing, no matter the stage you're at.*
If anyone likes to do graphics, let me know especially if we do voting little winner banners would be nice. I can do it, just am lacking the skill and programs...
