Prompt #6: What makes you lose your temper?

There is only one thing that burns my blood until it is boiling—injustice. I have witnessed the true crimes of humanity whilst the innocent continue to be victimized and persecuted by their peers. The true horrors of this world are not the trivial matters of murders and scandals reported in our daily newspapers, but rather the unspoken atrocities that go on behind closed doors that are never reported to authorities.

Prompt #5: What's your greatest fear?

As a man whose career is as dangerous as my own, one would expect fear as his constant companion. However, my investigative methods leave little in question, thus I am assured its outcome insofar as I am capable before confronting the criminal of his crime.

However, there is something I am loathe to admit that I fear most in the world.

Prompt #4: What song best describes you and why?

Ah! Music is a passion of mine. As my grandmother was sister to one of the notable line of Vernet artists, it was natural that my mother believed her boys should be exposed to as many of the fine arts as our family heritage would allow. Sadly, my brother Mycroft is tone deaf and has no depth perception; however, it was discovered that I had a rare gift for music. Many a childhood afternoon would be spent with my violin as I worked out little tunes.

Music near and dear to Sherlock Holmes' heart. )

Prompt #3: What are your thoughts on love?

Ha! A most superfluous question, for as my good friend Watson has stated, I do not speak often of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. Romance is the folly of other men, the source of many a woman's grief, and the motivation for those less scrupulous who prey on the innocent.

Sherlock Holmes expounds on the implausibility of the 'softer passions.' )

Prompt #2: Family

I have mentioned my brother, Mycroft, who is seven years my senior. The seven years between us would seem to put a damper on our relationship, one would think, and I suppose it did, at first. As children, I recall that Mycroft was away at public school before I myself was sent away. I vaguely remember some sort of jealousy, as if he were privileged to be sent off to some strange unknown place. Of course, the realities of the educational system left all of those petty envious thoughts behind.

Prompt #1: Answer the question: "Who are you?"

As the first, and even to this date, likely the world's sole consulting detective, my name is well-renowned. My fame precedes me both from well-deserved accolades, but also from the overly-romanticized published accounts of my various cases which my friend and long-standing partner Dr. Watson has seen fit to share with the world. What could the public possibly not know about me, the best-known detective of the 19th and quite possibly 20th Centuries?
