Prompt #4 - What song best describes you and why? [Open]

I occasionally find something worthwhile in the muggle (non-magical) world and often that is music. It's an amusing thing that muggles are capable of creating nuclear bombs, which can cause far more massive destruction than any wizard could achieve, but also create beautiful things as well. Of course, magic is more beautiful than anything they could produce, but I do have to occasionally give them credit.

Here in this strange...hotel, I guess you would call it, I have discovered a song by a group called Depeche Mode. I found that the lyrics really did suit me as you could say and the feel of the song just fit.

Morality would frown upon
Decency look down upon
The scapegoat fate's made of me
But I promise now, my judge and jurors
My intentions couldn't have been purer
My case is easy to see

I don't intend on ever saying sorry for what I do because I believe I am justified.

Prompt #4 - Song

A song that describes me.  Can one fill up a song with that many facets?  And then there's the fact that my song changes from day to day.  How about something like "Another Day" by Roy Harper.  Regret that is unspoken.  Always pleasant smiles to cover the reality of the situation.  Never admitting what is really going on.  How pointless this social posturing is.

Something obscure and remade.  Something that only makes sense to me.  Something that hides and smiles while the storm rages inside.  Something one doesn't want to read into like "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails.  People think of only one line from the song, and miss the darker threats going on.  There you go.  How about that?  A song people avoid reading into, with darker tones the Beavises and Buttheads ignore.

I'm not in a very pleasant mood, though, so it's no wonder I might pick out something like that.

What song best describes you and why?

My friend Rick wrote a song about me a while back shortly after our embrace. It was called "Witch Angel". He played it at this big Circle of the Crone Samhain ritual we had both been invited to. He played the song and I danced. It's a nice song I guess.

Prompt #4 - What song best describes you and why?

I know it'll never happen. Okay, I still hope it will. I like a little normalcy every now and then. Just to deal with mundane things without worrying about a demon attack. Just a little rest sometimes. It's not so much to ask for. I heard a song the other day that made me think of these things.

Prompt #4 - What song best describes you and why? [Open]

Sometimes when your co-workers are listening to a radio station you don't particularly care for, you come across a song that reflects your life and the confusion you face. Perhaps I am remarkably aware of my own state of mind for one that is supposedly insane, but honestly everyone has their breaking points.

But back to the song.

One day, a co-worker at the asylum turned on the radio during our break and the song Unwell by a group called Matchbox 20 was playing. My co-worker groaned and complained that she was tired of that song being played so much because all it would do is remind her of her job, which she hated. It's hard not to hate a job where you deal with the criminally insane, who do occasionally demand that they are perfectly okay and do not need a "shrink".

Well, when my co-worker pointed the song out to me, I listened and saw a bit of myself in the song, much to my own dismay. I knew at the time that I was on the edge and only holding on slightly because of all the stress of my job and my...not so legal activities. I denied that I was losing it everyday, assuring myself that once the stress passed and once I got a better job that I myself would be better. But I knew I was losing it too. The other me in my head wouldn't let me forget it.

Prompt #4: What song best describes you and why?

((locked to those that know of immortals, OOC/meta comments welcomed))

This is the song that never ends
Yes, it goes on and on my friends
Some people started singing it
Not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing forever, just because...

No matter what happens to me, I always seem to survive with my head intact. I keep going and going, the orginal energizer bunny. No immortal knows what they are until they wake up from something that should have left them dead and find their injuries heal quickly and nothing kills them. If they're lucky they'll find a teacher who will explain exactly what's happened. If not they'll find out that they can be killed.

Like the song, immortals go on and on, but eventually something happens to make the song or the immortals stop. The immortals are usually stopped by a quick stroke to the neck by a sharp object.

I know one day, I'll quit singing that annoying little song. I'll lose my head in combat, but until then I'll continue singing forever.

Prompt #4: [Private] What song best describes you and why?

Perfectly oiled, the suite door clicked shut softly behind Obi-Wan, and all the hotel's sounds abruptly ceased, almost as if it never existed. A lingering suspicion lingered on the edge of Obi-Wan's consciousness that it never had. All those people, mentioning galaxies he was sure even Qui-Gon had never heard of--truly this was the strangest mission he had ever been on, enough that he often wanted to doubt the reality of the entire thing. Still, proof remained. True, his memories of the hotel lounge were a little blurry, mostly visions of blue drinks and pink umbrellas, but he couldn't forget that damn song if he tried.

Obi-Wan threw off his robe and sat down hard on the sofa. Who the hell would name a band Nine Inch Nails anyway? Thank the gods that Anakin had pulled him out of there before he'd made an even greater fool of himself. Force! Getting all teary-eyed because a song had reminded him of his former master...

Obi-Wan rubbed at his beard, frowning. Qui-Gon wasn't the only person the song had brought to mind.

you make this all go away.
you make this all go away...

And he did.

Leaning back, Obi-Wan closed his eyes and breathed Anakin's name like a prayer. With Anakin at his side, this war almost seemed a little easier.

Almost.

prompt #4 What song best describes you and why.

This is a simple one.

Lindir wrote a song for me and it was to celebrate my life. In it were such things as my sarcasm - which I have developed into an art form, my victories in the field and my love for Glorfindel who I fervently hope will one day be reborn. Other minor themes such as my accidently pissing up a wall inside the house when drunk, being caught having sex on Elrond's desk and stealing Celebrian's underwear because I like the feel of silk are also explored.

The song was irreverent and accurate. It is best forgotten.

Prompt #4: What song best describes you and why?

When I was first reborn here, in the 21st century, the first people I met and became friends with were rock fans, so naturally I got early exposure to this thing they call rock music, and heavy metal, and I found that I liked it. It's loud and full of energy, and serves well to distract me when I need to be distracted. Of course Findekano hated it. His tastes are much more cultured; he likes classical music (though I would argue that some classical music, like Wagner and Mozart, was regarded as it's own culture's "heavy metal" once upon a time).

There's a song by a band called Linkin Park, called "Easier to Run", and the lyrics of that song could have been written for me.

If I could change, I would
Take back the pain, I would
Retrace every wrong move that I made, I would
If I could stand up and take the blame, I would
I would take all my shame to the grave.

Why? The why is right there in the lyrics. If I could, I would.

On a very slightly related note, I've been told more than once that I'm a double for Axl Rose. And, you know, they're right.

Prompt #4: What song best describes you and why?

There used to be this one song my buddies would always joke about having been written for me, ignoring the fact it was done more than a decade before I was even born. It might still describe me as well as it ever did, but I don't think it does it best anymore.

Usually I'd want to pick something by Johnny Cash. But if I had to pick something to describe myself...

Well. I have to say "Space Cowboy." Yeah. The one by Steve Miller. None of that new bubblegum crap by....whoever the hell else had a song by that title.

I don't think I really need to explain why. Anyone who knows me should get the obvious.

Prompt #4 - What song best describes you and why? [Open]

What I offer to you is not a song, but an instrumental piece that was written in the year that I was born. However it just doesn't describe me, but it describes a lot of the first half of the 20th century.

You see, the piece of music I am talking about is Mars, the Bringer of War, composed by the English Composer Gustav Holst. I believe that he wrote it in 1914 before the first world war broke out and when one listens to the piece, it is quite uncanny how much the piece reflects the horrors of mechanized warfare. I was born in 1914 after the first world war started and it had such an impact on my childhood. I'm not really referring to what happened during the war because I was a little bit too young to remember much of that time. Instead I'm referring to aftereffects of the war. Of what happened because it occurred.

Then there's the second world war, a war far far worse in some ways than the first. I can't really compare personal experiences however since I only have personal experience with the second one, but really, why argue which war is worse? They're all horrid.

So this piece, while not exactly describing me, describes the events that have influenced and shaped my life.
