[Prompt 1 - Who Am I? ]
Reason. Order. I'm a detective. I rely on these things when everyone else believes they don't exist and, in doing so, bring them forward with me from within the darkness. Even surrounded by Machiavellis, and Pol Pots, and Mansons, minds capable of taking the most intrinsic truths of humanity and twisting them until they're as ugly and broken as their wielders, I use logic, progression, to restore order.

Logical progression...

Crea • ture A fictional or imaginary being, typically a frightening one.

Fright • en • ing Attributed with a feature or trait that deters someone or something from action by making them afraid or anxious.

Anx • ious Experiencing worry, unease, or nervousness, typically about something with an uncertain outcome; wanting something very much, typically with a feeling of unease.

Want • ing Not existing or supplied; absent; a state of desire.

State A phase or period of existence, typically defined by a definite or contrasted by a definite beginning and/or end.

End A final part of something; termination of anything conventionally mortal.

Mor • tal (of a living, human being often in contrast to a divine or eternal being) Subject to death.

Death The action or fact of dying, being dead, or being killed.

I must be black. Terrible. Criminals are. I must disguise my terror. My disguise must strike fear. Frightening. I must be a creature.

Mommy's dead.

Daddy's dead.

Brucie's dead.

I shall become the bat.
