Prompt #24 - snow
Character: Max Guevera
Fandom: Dark Angel

As I stare out at a Seattle that’s blanketed with snow, I find myself agreeing with something that Original Cindy had said earlier to me when we were leaving Jam Pony.

She had mentioned how pretty the lights look on the snow, even if it was a bitch to get anywhere in the city when it snowed. Normal had overheard her and before I could disagree with her, he had told us that we had both better be at work tomorrow, snow or not, or we’d both be out of a job.

At the time, I would have told her that she was wrong. That snow in Seattle is ugly. I am not really a fan of the stuff, haven’t been since that night when my siblings and I escaped from Manticore. But as I take in the city from on top of the Space Needle, I can see fragments of how the city would have looked before the Pulse.

However as much as I’d like to just enjoy this moment, there’s a part of me that’s already starting to calculate all of the advantages and disadvantages that the snow provides me. No matter how much I pretend otherwise, I’ll always be a soldier so with a disgusted sigh; I turn back from the snow and head for home feeling colder than before.
