Prompt #10: My life would be easier if... ((Open))
Character: Elise (Ellie) Masterson
Fandom: Original character
Word Count: 289

My life would be much easier if there were more hours in the day, and I suppose most people would agree. But something specific to me? Not having to wait for a letter of credit for our patrons who intend to purchase some of our more expensive works of art and photographs. I don’t think we see this quite as often as some of the larger galleries do, or say a place like Sotheby’s, but every now and then we have someone who would like us to think they’re more wealthy or liquid than they really are and the lack of such a letter proves otherwise.

The gallery is still growing, and small enough that we can’t be as demanding as we’d like about credit – if we turn someone down because they don’t have it, we might not be able to find another buyer too easily. And then it’s a matter of both money and reputation for the artist, since a sale that seemed certain days ago is shaky at best if tested.

In a broader sense, about life being easier, it’d be to live closer to my parents so I’d get to see them on at least somewhat of a regular basis. Practically speaking, they can’t exactly move to Chicago, and well, I can’t really move back to Indiana, either. Things with Michael have been going exceptionally well, and his work and family are here. Add in the fact that southern Indiana isn’t even a blip on the art scene, and that’s why I’ll stay where I am for the foreseeable future. And I’m happy here, with him, for as long as we enjoy each other’s company, and I hope that that’s for a long time to come.
