February 2007, evening. Meridian, Idaho. [13 Dec 2009|11:04pm]

Voe thought now was a good time to take Rion out for a fun filled evening, something that all people did according to her. Going out to a club, an underground den, deserved a great outfit and she had a long velvet dress over another outfit that she'd surprise him with later. His brother returning had shaken him, she could see, and she wanted to distract him. She applied red lipstick before walking over to Rion to tell if he was ready, and the two headed to the entrance of the shelter.

Vanessa sat in the living room with Mary, a somewhat rare night in for the vampires, and she rose as the two younger people were nearly at the door. "You will be back before two in the morning," she said. Voe assured her she would and stepped outside into the night, taking Rion's hand to tug him in the direction of the place. The contact of their hands lasted a couple of seconds and then they arrived at the stairs of a basement.

Now was the time to change and she stepped out of her dress to reveal a shorter yellow dress. The longer one went into her handbag and Voe went down the stairs in her yellow heels. The man had the door had seen her before, nodded as he let both of them in, and she entered the fun neon lit room. "It is time for entertainment," she told Rion over the music, scanning the room for any potential person. She moved away from him a little to get a closer look at a woman in a grey t-shirt, unaware that another one had started to make her way towards him.

Rion hadn't discussed the incident of his brother with anyone, not even Voe. Instead he kept to himself as much as he was allowed. He was so full of conflicting emotions. A part of him had wanted to walk away with Fedir, but still he wouldn't have been able to if he'd tried. For many reasons. He knew he had to thank Vanessa, or at least try to talk to her about the whole thing. Since he'd been with the vampires he hadn't really spoken to her, but that hadn't kept him from knowing that it was on her whim alone that he was still alive and well taken care of.

Over the past couple of months he'd gotten used to the various routines of the vampires. He had little else to do besides observe or spend time with Voe. They all more or less kept their distance from him, except for the occasional evil eye from Lysander - which would no doubt increase in its frequency after the night before. He laid in bed watching the clock, imagining the different positions of the sun outside. He pulled himself up off of the bed and pulled his hair back with a black ribbon that Voe had given him. When he was fairly certain that Vanessa would be awake he left his bedroom, which he had gained more and more liberty to do the longer he'd been there. It wasn't like they wouldn't have known where he was with the heightened senses they had.

He walked down the hallway and through a second living room that was more of a study. Vanessa's door was at the opposite end of the room and that was his destination. He hesitated a moment before knocking softly.

February 2007. Meridian, Idaho. Late at night. [28 Sep 2009|08:46am]

Rion had been with the vampires for two months now. The social seclusion did not bother him, and he was fed relatively well thanks to the Voe's interest in him. The thing he was having the hardest time with was being couped up underground for all of the day and usually most of the night. Before his parents had died he'd virtually lived outdoors. When he wasn't in the shop helping his parents, he was hiking and exploring, and always in the sunshine. Because of his current situation he was only just now starting to miss it again.

Voe had been kind to him. She'd shown him the night and he had found a new appreciation for it, but there was almost nothing he missed more than laying in an open-field with the sun beating down on him and the tall grass waving around him. Now he only saw the sunlight in his dreams. He hadn't yet been allowed to venture out during the day, because he would have had to be alone. Sometimes he wished that he could share the day with Voe, but he knew it was impossible and sometimes it bothered him that he was growing so fond of his captors.

It hadn't taken him too long to realize that there was no real chance of escape. He had two options: try to leave and be killed, or stay and live as a prisoner/pet to Voe. He'd decided that he wanted to live, he wasn't quite ready to die. Somehow the darkness that had ruled his life after his parents death had not totally managed to extinguish the warm light of his spirit. Granted, he was still searching for his old self, but he was finding it inch by inch.

Another thing he missed was the freedom to change into his other form. It had been a very long time since he'd last been able to stretch his four legs. Sometimes the desire would keep him awake all day when he was supposed to be sleeping with the others. He'd toss and turn in the bed, trying to fight the unrest that coursed through his body. As bad as it got though, he was not yet willing to share that part of himself with his captors.

Despite his longing for the daylight, he did look forward to the outings and walks that he took with Voe. The night was beautiful, and she had a way of pointing things out to him that he may not have otherwise noticed. They were almost back to the compound and he felt a sinking feeling in his stomach. He didn't want to go back inside just yet so he stopped and took her elbow gently. "Look," he said, looking up. "It's starting to snow." Sure enough small snowflakes had begun to fall from the sky to sprinkle their clothes and hair.

Where Meridian, Idaho

Voe, Vanessa and the others got off the private jet and made their way from the plane to a cab. The journey would only take forty five minutes until they reached their home. Voe looked forward to seeing the underground residence again. This time, she had someone new with her - Vanessa instructed her to find out what she could about Illarion and decide whether or not she wanted to have him around her. If not, he'd be executed.

Lysander unlocked the door and pressed in the code for the security system. The elder vampires stepped into the place and Voe followed with Illarion. She walked into the hallway with the white marbel floor and gestured for him to follow her. They walked from the hallway, turned to the right to go down another large corridor.

Voe stopped in front of the second door on the right and opened it. Revealed was a spacious room, crimson carpented and dark, mahogany paneled walls. There were a couple of portraits of women hanging on the walls and the furniture was ornatively carved. "This is to be yours," said Voe. "I reside across the hall." It waws necessary for her to be nearby so she could stop him from stumbling across something he should not. Despite this precuation to appease her mother, Voe was intrigued by this person who smelled like nothing she had ever experienced. That and the fact he had nothing left to live for made him all the more alluring.

Oh, right, the male required food but there was nothing except blood in the kitchen. This presented a problem and she decided that she would make something for him. Mary kept watch outside his door so he would not escape while Voe went to purchase bread, cheese and eggs. It was fortunate that the bomb shelter still had a kitchen from when she was human.

She spent the next half hour frying the bread and the eggs. When that was done and she served the half burnt eggs and toast on a plate, taking a bag with his things to his room. She had searched through his things to find a picture, clothes, and items that were probably personal. Voe was not sure why she cared about his feelings like that, but there was something about him... "I have food," she said after she stepped into his room and the door closed behind her.

Where: Chicago
What: Vanessa, Voe and the vampires kill the mob boss and co, and meet Rion.

The night was darker than usual; the new moon had just risen and a cold breeze touched the trees enough to make the leaves rustle. Vanessa stood, tall, determined and elegant as always, over the bodies on the floor and watched as her three friends fed upon the dying people. Voe, her beloved adopted daughter, was next to her, but did not feed just yet. "Daughter," said Vanessa quietly with a glance at the albino woman. "Do you not crave sustinence?" It would not do if her heir became weak and vulnerable to any possible attacks - Alix had sent people to kill her and her family before and Vanessa was not going to take any chances.

Voe looked at her mother, remaining quiet for a few moments before she spoke. "I wait for you to drink first." She thought the world of Vanessa, as that was obvious to everyone, and smiled as Vanessa extended her hand to her. Voe bent down and picked up one of the men, lifting him to the appropriate height so her mother could take the first drink. She drank afterwards, but then she thought she heard something in the distance. "Mother, someone approaches," she murmured. Vanessa had heard it too and gestured for Lysander, Mary, and Sarah to stop their feeding. The vampires stood and turned in the direction of the noise.
