Carnival of the Vanities on IJ
[Pimp yourself out to thousands of strangers]
|About:||I wanted a way of finding other good posts and sites on IJ. Newcomers wasn't really doing it for me. Neither was Asylum Promos. The fandom meta roundup showed me some good stuff, but (of course) it was restricted to fandom-related topics.|
So what about a blog carnival specifically for IJ? (Don't know what a blog carnival is? Learn about them here.)
What is this?
Named after the first blog carnival - Carnival of the Vanities - this community lets IJ site owners showcase their own work. Promote something interesting on your site. Show us your best post. Point out a hidden gem that might otherwise be missed.
Help actually build the IJ community a little bit more.
How does it work?
Every two weeks, the community moderators will post a summary of the interesting, amusing, and intriguing on IJ as suggested by you good folk. You suggest it, we choose the best ones, we tell everyone else on IJ.
How do I suggest a post?
To suggest something for the bi-weekly Carnival of the Vanities, log in to IJ and make a post to the asylum. Include a brief summary and the URL to the post you want included. It's that simple.
Posts are moderated, so don't be surprised that your post doesn't appear on the front page. If your suggestion is chosen, it will appear in the roundup every other Wednesday.
Are there any guidelines?
Yes, a few:
* the post must be on InsaneJournal (it can be mirrored on another site, but the content of the post must be on InsaneJournal. No fake cuts to another server.)
* the post must be visible to all (no friendslocked posts)
* put adult material behind a cut
* only suggest things from your own journal. If you see someone else's IJ post that you think should go into the Carnival, comment and let the author know to post about it here!
Other than those rules, any topic is welcome: fandom posts, a story, poetry, icons, opinions, random thoughts, current events, music, reviews, home renovations, those pesky neighbor kids, various and sundry gripings, the latest idiocy at work, whatever.
