The moment I think I know what to expect in this city, something happens to prove beyond a doubt that I literally have no idea what's going on 90% of the time. I was out picking up fresh vegetables for dinner, minding my own business, when here comes some...massive animal barreling through the streets. I don't even know what it was! At first I thought it was a large white bear, but it may have just been a massive dog, I honestly don't know. I've never seen a dog that damn big but, again, I can't even pretend to know what to expect here.

So, anyway, if you're in town, be on the lookout. Didn't seem like a threatening animal, but it's sheer size is enough to advise caution.

I guess now I need to figure out what to make with what produce I was able to salvage. Nothing with cabbage. My cabbages were ruined.

GALE
Apparently we have been here long enough for him to be truly comfortable, because Cove is asking for a dog again.

We went hunting on one of the beaches this morning and Cove was especially proud of his sea glass findings. Cut for image! )

If you happen to be by the beaches and find anything similar and would like to part with it, I would happily take it off your hands. I like to use the brighter, softer pieces for jewelry. These are all going to Cove's personal collection, which is one of those funny habits that you don't intend to pass onto your children, but I suppose it was only a matter of time.

It is strange to know that we have been here just over a month now. It feels like both a very long time and hardly any time at all.

Back home I had a hobby making jewelry and would sell the finished work for some extra income. I think that might be something I would like to start doing again here. I was able to find a shop that sold beads and metal and all the makings to create bracelets, necklaces, earrings. I don't have any samples yet since I don't have anything from home and I haven't been able to make anything here just yet, but if anyone would be interested in something like that. Just let me know. I like to keep my hands busy, for as busy as our kids tend to keep them.

So I've been talking to Annie about what I should do for work here since my work experience and skillset are very [...] specific and limited. I had reasons and motivation to do what I was doing back home that I don't know how and I'm not sure I want to recreate here. I was thinking maybe instead of trying to recreate it, this might be a good time to learn a new skill that might be more helpful in this world.

Which leads me to my actual question, ha. If I wanted to learn more about working with computers, where would I start? I've got a reasonable level of experience already, but our tech was still pretty different from this world's tech.

Wait until you see these tomatoes I just picked up. I don't know that tomatoes were ever this plump back home.

I think I've wrapped my head around this age thing as well as to be expected. I figure it's no weirder than showing up in a new world with a sister who's older than I remember, and we've already come to terms with that part of it, so why not this. But for those of you who've been here longer than we have, is this something that happens frequently? Do we need to put contingency plans in place in case we're suddenly unable to care for our kids? Or suddenly don't remember our lives thus far? Or is this like a one off sort of thing? Honestly, I'm leaning toward contingency plans regardless.

Um Hello. My name is Annie and I have been here a couple of days, but I honestly forgot that this device connected to this network after I used it to find Gale. I remembered now, though, so I thought I would say hello.

I also wanted to ask if anyone else who has been brought here also came with children? I ask because I can already tell that our oldest is getting a bit bored of only having grown ups and his younger sister for company. We will be setting him up with school as it seems we'll be here for a while, but he's nine and our daughter is two if anyone might have children close in age to arrange playdates of some kind? This has all been a big change for Cove especially as he's old enough to understand a bit better that this isn't normal, so [...] please let me know if it's something anyone might be interested in arranging.
