Angel
Wiley Serpent
WHO Crowley & Aziraphale • WHERE A.Z. Fell & CO. Bookshop • WHEN Sunday Afternoon
Angel, I'm Home. WARNINGS More than likely language and TBD
He knew that sensation, just as much as if a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.
There had at least been one thing that had felt similar to Crowley, one particular thing. A celestial being, a warm affection. Aziraphale. He knew that sensation, just as much as if a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square. Perhaps you wouldn't have heard such a thing, but you would certainly know it once you experienced it.

It didn't take very long for the viper to follow the radiating warmness, it was relatively sickeningly and yet pleasant. The demon could have undoubtedly found his way to the bookshop with his eyes closed if he had to. Taking in his surroundings, the city. How odd, and yet so much like the reality he'd known?

This wasn't really what Crowley had expected to fall into, and he had done the whole falling thing before. Take it from him, not something he'd want to have a go at, again. Clad in black, sunglasses stiffly pushed up towards the top of the bridge of his nose. Suddenly, a little look of cleverness on his face when he stood before the familiar front of the bookshop.

It only took a little diabolical miracle and Crowley had found himself inside. Spinning in a slow circle as he took in the hundreds of rare and exclusive books. Giving a shake of his head, and a palate of the air and Crowley was back on the sport for his companion. "Angel, I'm home." He called out in parody. Lifting a brow as he peered over the edge of his shades.

In the back of the shop, in the little office area, Aziraphale was puttering around. He was perfectly able to miracle a nice, hot mug of cocoa, but there was something so homey about going about it the human way, by hand.

Aziraphale hadn't checked his phone in a couple of days - he was not the type that was ever glued to social media before, and he didn't mind the solitude. Therefore, he hadn't been alerted to Crowley's appearance. Something was different in the air, though. A strong sensation of love that made his heart swell. It reminded him of Crowley, felt like Crowley, but he believed it was just emotions sparked by memories of a crisp, autumn day. It was this time of year when they'd sat together in a London park, reveling in how they'd tricked Heaven and Hell by changing places, winning their freedom.

So, while Crowley wasn't around (at least as far as he knew), Aziraphale couldn't help but move around, pum pum pumming a tune under his breath. Not one of his classical favorites, but something he'd heard before while riding along side Crowley in the Bentley, he didn't even know the title, what to speak of the words.
Ooh love ooh loverboy
What're you doin' tonight, hey boy
Set my alarm, turn on my charm
That's because I'm a good old-fashioned lover boy

He had just finished stirring his cocoa when an all too familiar voice rang out in the shop, causing him to freeze. He couldn't believe his ears, did he imagine it? Slowly, he emerged from the office to the front of the shop, apprehensive to what he might (or might not) find.

Crowley. He was there. It was such a shock that Aziraphale squealed with surprise and dropped his favorite angel winged mug to the floor.

Ah! Wrinkling his nose at the touch of sweet and saccharine chocolate was inhaled, yes Aziraphale was most definitely here. Crowley would bet his tail on it.

The demon would have been pleasantly surprised to see Aziraphale so open to newer technology, let alone any social media. The angel always seemed to find comfort in the quiet, and here Crowley was making a good damned rukus already. However, it was almost as if he had been drawn here. Not only for the warmth, but there was more. Whatever more was. It wasn't really something demon's could explain, not with trivial words, anyways.

His ears easily picking up on the sound, a smirk touching his lips faintly. "Classic," Crowley quietly agreed on the choice of tunes. For a moment he stood there quietly in nostalgic pause, thinking back to the drives they've had together. Even that time that bloody crazy human hit his poor Bentley.

"Ngh," said Crowley. Suddenly ripped from his quick reverie with the smash of porcelain against the bookshop floor. Glancing down to Aziraphale's feet where his mug laid in several pieces and the spill of molten chocolate and cream. Ohshitohsitohshit "Uh (Whoops), did I startle you, angel?" A hesitant and faltered smile.

Crowley knelt down and scooped up the sticky pieces, a little demonic intervention and it was all mended. "Er. Good as new. Hmm?" No big deal. Right? Right. The demon handed Aziraphale the winged mug. "Do try to hold it this time?"

The whole time that Crowley took to clean up the mess, all Aziraphale could do was stand with both hands covering his mouth, staring down at him, but he instantly accepted the cup when handed it, not even phased by how it had been fixed.

His instincts told him to throw all caution to the wind and throw his arms around Crowley in a tight embrace... but he was still worried. Not about what Heaven would think, but how Crowley would react.

"Is that... really you? Oh Crowley! When did you get here!"

Lifting a hand to idly scratch behind his ear as Aziraphale seemed to have mentally transported somewhere else. "Angel?" Waving his hand then in front of his companion. Crowley soon glanced quickly over each shoulder just to be sure that there wasn't something behind him. Could never be too careful, you know?

Crowley had wondered why Aziraphale seemed so utterly shocked. They'd seen each other not too long ago at The Ritz? At least that's what he remembered?

"No I'm an aardvark, yes it's really me." Smoothing his lapels down with a puff of air from between his lips in a brief raspberry. Hooking his fingers back into the belt loops of his slacks. "I..." He paused then. Good question.

"Mmm, nuh. I'm not sure. Yesterday? Today?" Shrugging his shoulders absently. "Whenever did we go to the Ritz?" Glancing around with a swing of his torso before looking back to Aziraphale casually.

Aardvark? Aziraphale rolled his eyes and indignantly huffed. Despite that, he was so happy that Crowley was here, he savored his voice, his movements, his presence, with an evenly growing smile.

Until he asked about the Ritz. "It's been so long! A month, at the very least! You must've been brought here from the same time as I had, after our lunch, but I got here before you." The angel's forehead wrinkled from distress. "I missed you so much!"

Crowley couldn't help but grin at Aziraphale's indignant huff. It was always endearing to ruffle the angel's feathers up. All in good fun, of course, it wasn't in any sort of malicious intent. He'd never intentionally hurt his angel.

"A month?" The demon looked perplexed for a moment. "Bullocks. Really?" Lifting a single eyebrow upwards in disbelief, why they it couldn't have been more than a few days ago when they went to the Ritz. "Huh..." Crowley shrugged his shoulders before trying not too hard to focus on it. He hadn't really any grievances about the circumstances. At least they had escaped their opposing sides and respective head offices.

"I.. ngk. I-- me too." He muttered softly, almost under his breath. Peering long aways before glancing back to his partner. Of course, it hadn't seemed that long at all to Crowley. But just the way Aziraphale beamed and seemed to have such a divine glow.

Aziraphale had been long enough in Vallo to know people came and went all the time, and how just as surprisingly Crowley appeared, he could leave without a trace at any time. The only thing that mattered right now, was Crowley was here, and the angel would make the most of every moment.

Seeing how felt the same (though it didn't make much sense for Crowley to feel lonely - he would have to ask later), Aziraphale couldn't control himself any longer? And why would he need to, anyway?

Looking this way and that, he found the nearest flat surface to set his mug. Then, with free hands, he grabbed Crowley and held him tight.

It was a quiet interlude that fell on them both then, Crowley scarcely taking in the atmosphere of Vallo, honestly, he probably shouldn't have taken that time to nap through the video presentation but it seemed as good a time as ever? The demon was slowly figuring things out, the same details of others who seemed to just sort of fall into the same bizarre situation.

A brow still perched high while Aziraphale looked around himself as if seeking something and it came without time for Crowley to prepare himself because suddenly he was pressed firmly against the angel. Blinking as he tried to process what was happening.

"Ngh," Crowley murmured mixed with an indiscernible squeak. DosomethingCrowley. What should he do? Where does he put his hands? Well, it would be rather ridiculous if he just stood there with his arms at his sides, and so the demon enveloped his angel in them. Reveling silently in that radiating warmth that came with it, imagine hugging the softest and most luxurious heated blanket.

"Angel." Crowley said quietly as if it would have been too harsh to address aloud, if he had moved too hastily perhaps everything would have dispersed like a mirage.

The only response Aziraphale made was to squeeze Crowley just a little bit tighter, hopefully to show how happy and in love he was without expressing words of his own. After a deep, satisfied sigh, he pulled back, yet keeping contact by leaving his hands upon Crowley's shoulders.

"Did your flat come with you? No? I insist you stay here, with me. I know there's no bedroom, but we can fix up the cellar. Or, if being underground reminds you too much of Hell, and you'd rather not, we could try to miracle another floor? It shouldn't be too difficult. Oh! It will be wonderful!" He spoke quickly, excited about all the thoughts and ideas spinning in his head.

A hiss of air escaped Crowley as Aziraphale had grasped him even tighter, squeezing the anxiety straight out of him. Growing limp momentarily in the angels capable arms, before his legs finally took a more stiff position and his feet firm to the ground. It was a strange heavy feeling that fell on the demon, and it was rather hard for him to shake off, even as a little shudder shimmied down his lanky body.

Clearing his throat a few times once he was given some space for his brain to stop spinning, even though the angel kept his warm hands planted on his shoulders like anchors, keeping him at shore. "Er-- Um."

Mouth falling open like a puppet, but nothing that formed a sentence followed through. Twisting his brows towards the center as Aziraphale had already made his mind up for the demon! "Great. Fine. Yes." said Crowley with no reservations of having a constant and miraculously easy watchful eye on his angel. "Sure angel," he realized that the hug had stopped, dropping his hands awkwardly to his sides with fists clenched. "Speaking of which, m'guess you haven't seen the Bentley?" Ah yes, changethesubject.

"Oh." Aziraphale's smile faded. "I'm so sorry. Your Bentley isn't here." Quickly brightening to cheer up Crowley, he continued, "But that doesn't mean it won't! Just like people, items pop in all the time. Why, my bookshop! It was already here when I arrived... but that was only because it seems that I was here before. Which I don't even remember, and it all a mystery to me, but there are plenty of people who have verified that I was here before, so there you go. The point is, don't give up hope!" His eyes twinkled with joy. "I never gave up that you'd show."

Ah! Crowley twisted his mouth when Aziraphale had seemed to frown. Partially because that seemed like bad news for the Bentley but also he hadn't meant to upset his companion. Nodding solemnly to the affirmation that in fact he was without his trusty steed vehicle. Which had also meant he was without his plants...

"Before?" How could he be there before and not remember? This wasn't really something you went on forgetting?

"Ngk!" Crowley squandered the sharp pang at Aziraphale's disgustingly cute and horribly sweet answer. Seeming to just stare off for a good 20 seconds, head empty. Ugh, nononononononono. How could he possibly miss a demon. "Hmm? Got that bored, did you? No other demons to thwart here?" His smile slanting.

"No, there aren't any other demons around that I know of. There is a version of Lucifer, who I don't know very well. A couple of angels from other universes... oh! And a handful of demon hunters, but I honestly don't think you'll have any trouble from them."

It wasn't difficult to notice how easily Crowley got flustered by complements, and Aziraphale decided he rather liked that. Dropping his hands from Crolwey's shoulders to tidy up the lapels of Crowlwy's jacket, he sweetly said, "You're the only demon worth thwarting, in my opinion. The only one I'd want to thwart."

Lifting a single eyebrow at the mention of another version of Lucifer. Before his face fell rather flat at the addition of demon hunters. Not exactly the sort of company that Crowley would have been interested in mingling with, being one of the fallen and all. “That’s rather rich.” He sighed.

Hedonistic bastard. Crowley stopped breathing for a couple of seconds. Not that he needed to breathe, but all the same. “Uh, yes. Well... That is the arrangement.” Glancing to the bottom of his dark lenses to where Aziraphales hands lingered at his lapels.

The way Crowley reacted helped to embolden Aziraphale, though he didn't want to push too far, too quickly. There was a small, insecure voice inside Aziraphale's mind that would sometimes arise. It told him that since there wasn't anything really holding them back from progressing to having a deeper relationship with one another, what if Crowley would suddenly grow bored with him after reaching the goal he'd been pursuing for so many years>? Aziraphale tried to dismiss these insecurities. Foolish, really, given all their experience together. Even so... there was no harm in playing hard to get, was there? Flirting could be fun, too, right?

Smoothing out the lapels, it was still wonderful to be able to do something as simple as casually touch him. "It seems a bit outdated now. Our arrangement, that is. Given our circumstances." He flashed his eyelashes up at Crowley. "What are your thoughts on a new arrangement?"

Once Aziraphale was blessed with the slightest of a tether and the angel took hold to slowly unravel the demons' defenses. Of course, the angel had a habit of taking things dreadfully slow that it was nearly torture. Made the serpent wonder just who was really tempting who?

Crowley watched as those gentle hands flattened out his lapels, his heart (or what passes for one) brimming with thrill and maybe a touch of fear? “Oh— Ah,” he stammered, his chest clenching.

“Our circumstances,” Crowley echoed. Not the eyes, angel the demon mentally chastised his partner. “Out with it, Aziraphale?” Trying to keep his voice collected and yet he is feeling the opposite.

Aziraphale had Crowley metaphorically eating out of the palm of his hand, and he loved it as much as Crowley did. That was why the angel, playing at being innocent, thought it would be perfectly alright to continue the "torture" by sweetly saying, "Me? Come up with a new arrangement? Oh nooooo... I couldn't." His bottom lip pouted. "Especially since you were the one who came up with the idea for the initial one. You'll have to think of something new.

"Until then!" Aziraphale swiftly stepped away, clasping his hands together in joyful expectation. "We ought to celebrate your arrival! There's a number of nice restaurants you can take me to. It won't be quite the same until your Bentley appears, but walking will do just as fine."

Crowley's face fell comically flat at Aziraphale's pass and really should he have been all that surprised by it? Probably not. "Well played, angel." He did have to commend him genuinely on this, putting the ball right back into his court and with such coy intentions. The demon only smiled in response, well played.

Letting out an exaggerated sigh at the idea of walking, he did hope he would see his beloved Bentley sooner than later. He wasn't really all that much of a fan when it came to walking on these wobbly long legs. "Of course," Crowley hummed. There was very little to no surprise there at the plans that Aziraphale had come up with. Hooking his thumbs back into his belt loops as he sauntered up towards the other and passed him with a gentle nudge of his elbow. "After me," getting to the door frame as he leaned on it. "Alright angel, your choice."
